35 disps (20 kicks 15 hballs), 8 marks and a goal in Rd 19 22-pt win over Geelong at the MCG (7 Aug 2010) sure it's not 4 goals but he did slam 41 goals in the net in 2010. ;)

Yes 590 precious touches Mr Didak in 2010. A fair contributor to 2010 midfield and part of the reason we won that flag.

What is your point? He averaged 24 disposals and 1.7 goals a game. So you were wrong by 11 disposals and and 2.3 goals a game. Now lets mate the comparison with Josh Thomas who in his first year playing in the AFL he averaged 19 disposals and 0.5 goals a game. The differential between Josh Thomas and Didak is less than the real Didak and the one you dream about. Also when you factor in at the start of the year Thomas started as a sub or got subbed a fair bit and there was no sub rule in 2010 that helps Dids' averages

I think our 2 way running has steadily improved since the start of 2012, looking at a couple of statistics we were:

+472 in uncontested possession differential in 2013, compared to -22 in 2012 (in 2 more games)
+193 in inside 50 differential in 2013, compared to +50 in 2012 (in 2 more games)

If we add in a couple of factors such as Ball and Beams being fully fit from round 1 and the addition of Adams I'm prepared to say our mids will be comfortably in the top 2-3 this year

Llody has to be one of the worst journalists in the game. Getting stuck in to our midfield saying nothing has changed from last year, Beams and Ball have returned from injury and we have got Adams that is what has changed you *******.

Also the shit he was saying about Brisbane he turns a mole hill in to a mountain.

He is no more then a fan he lets his prejudices hate Brisbane because they beat them in 01 and hates the Pies because he is an Essendon fan.
Beams and Ball played when we were beaten by Port to finish 8th. We have added Adams but we've lost Shaw who ran it out of defense. Call Thomas out as status quo.

Not much has changed from last year unless the "team" is all on 1 page and playing for each other, the coach and the club. That is what needs to change most of all. We will know after round 4.

In fact you are comparing Josh Thomas to Dids is an insult to Alan Didak. The guy was a match winning star.

Dids getting 41 goals in 2010 in a highlight year really shows me just how good DAICOS was TG.
97 wasn't it in 1990? Now that's a match winning star.

it's a shame they don't give out finals wins based on statistics then!

That comparison is a bit unfair on Dids.. for one Daicos is arguaby the best player Collingwood has ever had. Daicos was parked in the forward pocket all year while Dids played further up the ground and got more possession... and in 1990 there was a style of play more conducive to forwards being able to kick 80-100 goals a year.

Dermi has done it, I respect his opinion. Lyon isn't to bad
When it comes to Melbourne and Collingwood Lyon is as bias as it gets, in opposite directions. He's also as negative as they come with regards to just about all players, it's as though if he puts every player down enough (particularly tall forwards) it will make his legend grow each time. Can't stand the prick.

Lloyd's just a dopey bastard who has no idea outside of getting frees and taking shots for goal.

Shit!
A Ben Kinnear fan!
Who'd have thought.
Welcome. ;)

Oh ok...if that's unfair on Dids maybe we could compare him to Jamie Elliott last season? Would that be fairer? He kicked 30 odd as a second year player.
Dids was a great finisher in a great team. Daics was simply a freak who had opposition defenders so "baffled" as to how to stop him that he ran rings around all of them...he was a small man's Peter Hudson so uncanny were his goal senses.

You were the one who started the comparison, they are 2 different types of players if I started the comparison we would either be comparing Fasolo/Elliott with Didak as they play a more similar role. When are you just going to face the fact that you were wrong?

Yeh that's like comparing Lockett and Cloke. The game has changed a lot since 1990. A player kicking close to 100 goals is unheard of. Didak would've run further than Daicos ran in his career. There is no room for players to just stay forward inside 50m the modern game. Didak was unlucky not to win the Copeland in our premiership year. A star.

No I agree totally, its like comparing Lockett to Cloke, Lockett would win by a mile mate...he could kick.

He had a very good year but Swanny was the rightful winner 820 disposals and 24 goals is an amazing year

17 more goals to Didak.. that's pretty valuable over a season.
590. Disposals. I'd argue a Didak kick is more damaging than Swans.. Taking nothing away from Swan though. A worthy winner in his own right should've won the Brownlow over Judd.

Yeah it is a good effort but Dids played more time in the forward line meaning more opportunity to kick goals but less to get the ball. He was just stiff that Swan had such a good year

Swans 2010 while not statistically his best year, his place in the team was very important, i'd say much more important compared to any other year, he was the MVP that year and for good reason. Really should have won the Brownlow that year.
Swans 2010 over Didaks 2010 by a far margin, Didak was a star but Swan was the best player in the competition that year, and thats the only year i could say he was the best with confidence.

Its like comparing Wingard to Boak, Wingard is very flashy and has the ability to win games off of his own boot but structurally Boak is far more important to Port in my opinion.
