Knew this would happen with Pav. I hate seeing All-time greats push out another year when in hindsight, they really shouldn't have.

It really does suck for him.

This has been taken out of context, they asked if Lyon would be opposed to Pav retiring and he said that he wouldn't stop him from doing it. He wasn't suggesting that he should retire or that its even on the table atm

That wasn't the case.

He was asked about it, and just rolled along.

I know that he didn't raise it, and was just answering questions, but he is too smart to not understand about sending out smoke signals. He could have answered the question many different ways, and he can't exactly knock on Pav's door and say time to go big boy, there'd be a riot.

Stayed on this year as we needed a forward.this year. Great servant of Fremantle, the AFL and more. Let's see him to 350 and then he should retire.
I would love to see him call it a day on the derby! I think that we could see Apeness and co. with Pav in the forward line. May be an opportunity to rest Ballas, Mayne and co.....

I'm sure. We mustn't forget that a lot more is being asked of pav with all his buddies out and the kids learning. He goes out there with such grace and dignity, loyalty, applied intellect. I don't know how many times I have to say it, pav knows what he's doing.

15 Matthew Pavlich 346 FR:2000-2016

Pav should pass Hawkins and end up in 14th position (assuming he doesn't get injured or retire after his 350th). Unluckily it probably won't get much coverage over East, as it'll probably coincide with Boomer playing his 427th and passing Tuck to be the overall games record holder. The other active players over 300 games are Enright (321), Dal Santo (313), N Riewoldt (309), Burgoyne (308) and Petrie (306). Bartel, S Mitchell and S Thompson are all on 296 - so if Pav misses a game he'll avoid getting bunched in with those guys' milestones.
