Richo was sensational at both ends of the ground against the Dogs today, he looked absolutely shattered when the game ended in a draw. How can you not admire a player who has experienced so much heartbreak and disappointment in his career yet never stops giving his all for his club. Bruce referred to him as "a 33-year-old reinvented", it was fitting, somehow.

Yeah Richo, tries and tries and tries, I was shocked when I saw he ran 15kms in a game. I remember last week Peter Burgoyne got 41 posessions, and our supporters bagged him for a turnover, you get those losers at every club.

I used to be sickened at some of the Richmond supporters who would say "sure he took 16 contested marks but what about that set shot he missed in the second quarter, mayby time to give Schultz another crack..."

Imagine the stats he would of had at a club that was winning and had a midfield delivering the ball lace out?

I fully endorse this thread. Matthew Richardson has been a bloody star and it's ridiculous that he is not captain. He has been the heart and soul of that side (and club) for years and always given his all. Even at 33yo he is STILL one of the most exciting and amazing players to watch. :thumbsu:

Despite his form today, he is still my favourite non-Bulldog.

You can't buy passion; win lose or draw he is always very watcheable, and probably the best contested mark in the game.

Being an opposition supporter, I can honestly say that Richo is probably the most entertaining player to watch in the league (other than any of the lions boys of course!) and an absolute super-star regardless of all the shit he gets for some of his wayward kicking. I actually find myself cheering purely for Richo in some Richmond games, he deserves a lot more accolades than he gets that is for sure.

Got to love him, plays for the team be supported as a kid and who his dad played for, gives his heart and soul to his club, is very talented, does not take himself too seriousy and hates himself when he does something stupid - the other brilliant thing about him is their is no artiface about him you know exactly what is happening in his mind every second he is on the field. Horrible to think he probably will retire without a premiership medal round his neck
