This is an artice from "The Age" today.
"Richmond forward Matthew Rogers has added fuel to what was already promising to be a passionate clash between the Tigers and Essendon next Saturday by labelling the Bombers' stars ``arrogant''.
In comments likely to provoke Essendon coach Kevin Sheedy, the injured Rogers - who is likely to miss another two matches with a knee injury - attacked Essendon with more vigor than most teams have managed to throw at the league leaders on the field this year.
Speaking on radio station Triple M prior to Richmond's clash with Melbourne, Rogers said the Bombers were playing ``arrogantly''. Asked if there was an individual opponent he did not like, Rogers responded with ``Essendon'' rather than name a player.
``They are playing very sort of arrogant,'' Rogers said. ``They sort of think that their ... whatever you want to call it ... doesn't stink.''"
.
I must admit, I'm getting sick and tired of all this Essendon bashing and petty jealousys, firstly by other supporters, and now by opposition players.
It seems all a side has to do is win, and they are labelled arrogant. If you saw Essendon's perfromance agaisnt Port, where they admittedly weren't at their best, but they were hard at the ball, and focussed all night, arrogance would have been the furthest thing from their mind. The defence was superb, conceding only 7 goals. It was a very disciplined performance.
The worst thing about Rogers' comments is that he didn't name a player. If he named a player, fair enough. It might be that players distinct personality. But to label the whole club is ludicrous. How can ALL 42 players all have the same characteristics (eg arrogance).
I think he is just jealous and he wants to see the Bombers lose, because they are winning so much (just my opinion). Hopefully, we can piss him off even more this week.
