While it is off-topic - it is also Cameron Mooney's 150th GFC game this week.

They're good mates, so i'm sure they'll enjoy sharing the milestone.

Congrats to Cam on getting life membership at the club.
Well deserved.

what a champion he has been... I remember when he played his first game in 1999 I think.

First game was against Essendon in Round 22 1998. Geelong had a team of kids due to a very long injury list. Lloyd kicked 3 goals on Cameron Roberts in the first quarter and Scarlett came on after 1/4 time and kept Lloyd to 3 goals for the rest of the match, two of which were late in the final quarter. Geelong came from 5 goals down midway through the second term to cause an upset win by a couple of goals.

I was never sure of the exact details of this match, other than to say he came on after someone else had copped a battering and did OK with Lloyd kicking 3. So thanks for that more in depth trip down memory lane mate. :thumbsu:

Interesting to read that Scarlo barracked for Essendon as a kid.

"When I arrived at the club, Gary Ayres was the coach and I only played five or six games, so things weren't working out great for me back then," Scarlett said on gfc.com.au

"When Gary left and 'Bomber' (Thompson) arrived, I started playing senior footy pretty much straight away.

"I grew up barracking for Essendon and, as a teenager, I idolised him, so I was pretty rapt when he took over as coach."

Who would've thought one of one most successful father-son selections was a Bomber fan?
