Wade averages mid 20’s opening and 16 games is PLENTY
Okay, Wade is out of calculations. Never to return. As i stated, his current form matters not, his papers are stamped! Australia has heaps of outstanding batsmen ahead of him, all of whom might get a game with Sri Lanka or Zimbabwe? We have an embarrassment of riches here.

Cool, so you’ll just be prepared to write off a bloke in a meaningless ODI to see if he might be s**t based off past appearances?

Absolutely nonsensical.
I'm not writing him off, would have him in for sure if anything happens to Carey.

What I'm mainly having a go at is this ridiculous victim mentality and conspiricay theory rubbish over him not being picked when there is valid reasoning for the selectors not to have him in this current team just atm.

Even though Carey is out of form?

Well, people are citing those averages cultivated as an opener 6-7 years ago as a reason why he shouldn't be picked. Would anyone else be judged by those same standards?
Plenty of batsmen over the years have. Not as if Wade is the first or the last one. Plus Wade is a mouthy player who isn’t the greatest to have around the side I’d assume.

Meh, feels like you're reaching hard for reasons not to select him now, TBH.

Given that he's in the form of his life, I don't see the harm in giving him another go in a few relatively meaningless ODIs, to see how he fares.

Why not? What’s wrong with being mouthy? Noticed Starc, Paine and Cummins are all pretty mouthy? What do we want? A robot that says yes sir, no sir, three bags full?

What about Wade's ODI average from 2017 which is just about the same?

But yes most robbed player in the history of cricket.

Exactly. If he dominates these ODI games then he walks into the WC team. Right now Carey is as useful as a one armed paperboy. Wade is belting the door down and deserves a minimum of one go.

You’re the one painting him out to be a victim, no one else here is. We are just saying he deserves to play over Carey because his short form is elite whilst Carey is not in form.

Yes, while getting limited situational opportunities while batting at #7.

His ODI averages don't look great on face value, but some are overlooking the context and time in which they came, and completely dismissing his current form as well.

This. People are just wanting to see form rewarded, and for domestic performances to mean something towards national selection.

Wade's average from 2017 was 26.

Consisted of:

Jan 2017 vs Pakistan - 100*
Jan 2017 vs Pakistain - 35 (came in 27th over)
Jan 2017 vs Pakistan - 5 (came in 47th over)
Jan 2017 vs Pakistan - 8 (came in 47th over)
Jun 2017 vs England - 2 (came in 43rd over)
Sept 2017 vs India - 9 (came in 12th over)
Sept 2017 vs India - 2 (came in 30th over)
Oct 2017 vs India - 20 (came in 43rd over)

Bit unfair to judge him on that average considering the situations he has come in at 7. Has been in pretty good form since then.

Oh you can't get runs down at 7 now, that explains it. Even though he couldn't get runs opening. Oh that was too long ago, or something.

If he was any good he would be getting enough not outs to make up for it.

Look he's a bit unlucky not to be in the side, no more no less. It's not some great 'travesty' in the selection process that he has been overlooked though.

Come on you're better than this. He has come in and thrown the bat.

No one is saying its a great travesty and that he is the most robbed player ever. You're exaggerating that. They're just saying his form deserves selection.

People are just saying regardless of what he achieved in 2012-2017, his current form deserves selection. By saying he has failed previously therefore he should not be reselected, you're basically denying him of his improvement and turning a blind eye to his current form. Once dropped, forever dropped approach.

The point is, he's not getting 50-100 balls to look at and failing. He's often coming in after the 40th over and having to swing from the word go.

Understanding the context helps to understand the numbers.

Even though he couldn't get runs opening. Oh that was too long ago, or something.
Well, which other active players get judged on innings batted 6-7 years ago?

Look he's a bit unlucky not to be in the side, no more no less. It's not some great 'travesty' in the selection process that he has been overlooked though.
Logic would say the most in-form batsman in the country would get a look in, especially if he can also keep, and if the guy in front of him isn't exactly in the greatest form.

People are also wanting the national team coach and selectors to stay true to their word, that domestic form means something for national selection. Langer, Chappell and Hohns seem to either move the goalposts whenever they sees fit, or offer flimsy reasoning for non-selections.

Matthew wade has more chance of beating Anthony Joshua in the ring than he does of getting in the odi team. He's having a good year but it's being boosted by having a swing and coming off against some terrible bbl bowling.
