Great news that Watson has signed another contract.
Unfortunately he won't be a part of the Blues 2013 finals campaign due to injury.
Here's hoping for a fit and improved Watto for next year.

Watson up for the challenge
It worked a treat during Watson's five appearances this season from round 16-20 – a period in which Watson was solid and Henderson was brilliant in bagging 15 goals and as many contested marks.

"I want to cement my spot and play most of the year so that Hendo can go forward and give us another option," he said. "And hopefully we play finals again because I obviously missed out last season.

"I built some confidence, played a few good games and even the coach said, 'You’re starting to improve.' Hopefully I can carry that into the start of this season.

"I see it as a challenge. I was brought into the club to hold down a key position and hopefully this year I can show them what they drafted me for. I just want to repay the faith they've shown in me."

But first he plans to have a big pre-season, with his focuses including general fitness, acceleration off the mark to avoid being tackled, and continuing to develop his aerial and body work.
Watson up for the challenge

Watto could be our barometer and the new Brad Fisher. ;)

Fisher's barometer-ability was due to our winning record with him in the side compared to our record with him out of the side. In a sense though, if Watson's form allows Henderson to star, his importance will be huge.

Yep, It's all about this kid in 2014.

Much like "Save the cheerleader, save the world", "Play Watson, Win 17"

Come on Watto! You can do it.

Seriously, this guy is probably the most important player for us next year. So vital to our structure.

Reckon he's improved his spoiling with sides taking him closer to goal, only to see Watson punch it away. Looks more comfortable in the air and on the last line of defense. Unlike most defenders, he doesn't panic and try to get rid of the ball to a better kick or a rebounder. Still see Watto as a CHB with that left foot perfectly suited to Mick's game plan and setting up attacks.

I agree. He is looking the goods, definitely moving forward as a player. I'm confident he will make a big contribution this year and going forward.

That boot is an absolute zone breaker.

He'd be struggling there
