How do you think Mattner would go if he would go in the forward line?
I wonder this because Sydney have enough half-backs as it is (especially now with Everitt coming into the team) and because a lot of people say they don't like him a lot because he makes errors coming out of defence and gives away frees in the defensive 50.
While he has been at Sydney he has kicked 22.11 (66.67% conversion) and, along with McGlynn, could maybe provide some tackling pressure inside our 50.
I think it would be good to try a few games with him in the forward line instead of just dropping him like others might say.

Who's place would he take?

Exactly. He's clearly rated as a player by the coaches but I wouldn't think there was a spot for him to take in the forward line while he learns the craft of playing there.

IMO, he isn't such a necessary player in the 22 for him to learn how to play forward and keep someone else out. I'm happy for him to stick on the HB line or even play up on the wing should he be in the 22 (which I assume he will).

IMO, he should be under a bit of pressure now with Everitt added to the list, Malceski a definite starter, Shaw strengthening his position towards the end of the year (though not as a HB flanker), Nick Smith a lock as a best 22 player and LRT and Craig hopefully returning.

If Roosy was still coach, I would assume he would be there come round 1 next year but who knows what Horse will do?

Hard to predict anything for next year regarding our lineup. We'll see who Longmire likes and doesn't like during PS.
