Yeah, I think we're getting a little ahead of ourselves proclaiming he's a star in the making. He had 6 touches for the game.

He did get into the right positions, and with a bit (possibly a lot) more upper body strength and general toughness in the contests he is capable of being very effective. But he's not best 22 at the moment. Not really close TBH.

Worked hard. Improved on his last outing in the league team.
Smart placement of his body, not enough strength. Dropped a couple of sodas.
But worked well in tandem with Pav, keeping out of each other's way.

He has played some good WAFL games and I like his attitude and think he might make it but today wasn't a great game.

Hardest thing for young key forwards is getting to the right place in the forward line. Taberner did that, and that's what is impressing people. If he continues to improve, more marks and goals will come.

Didn't exactly show it in todays game but from the very few WAFL games I have seen him play he has good strong hands.
I wouldn't be trying to get him too much bigger bodied, I would play him in the NRiewoldt type role so needs to work a lot more on his fitness.
That allows Pav to spend more time deeper forward..

He showed some good positive signs but agree with others saying didn't do enough to have a toast thread.
While Mayne is out Tabs has a spot.
Once Mayne is fit Tabs will need to do more than today for them to find a spot for him.

Shown good signs in WAFL and deserved his call up due to injuries.
Showed a fraction of his ability in todays game.

If, as Brad Johnson suggested in the broadcast, separation in a marking contest is a direct result of work rate then I don't see how you couldn't be pleased with what you saw today. 2nd year tall in his 5th game shows a bit, I'll drink to that, bloody oath I will!
