Mature age prospects 2017

His overhead marking is definitely his best asset. His leap means smaller defenders can't get near the point where he marks it and taller defenders wouldn't have a hope in keeping up with him. Also uses it beautifully by foot, his ability to weight a pass is delightful to watch. Defensive pressure is his downfall, mostly due to his endurance. Think it was reported last year he ran a sub 10 beep, which makes his feats in the WAFL even more impressive. this is the area he must improve on if he wants to have an AFL career. I was honestly astounded he wasn't at the very least rookied last year given his obvious talent. Clubs won't make the same mistake again. He's one of a few I'd like us to look at from the WAFL.

I think his sub-10 beep test was more of a mental thing rather than his physical limit. But yeah, absolutely agree with your assessment way too talented to be outside the AFL system.

#3 Hisham Kerbatieh: Kerbatieh has been electric this season and has kicked 21 goals so far this season from limited forward 50 entries, he's a good option for any side that needs a young small forward this season. Draft range: 55 to rookie

Is kerbatieh a chance in a side where foward entries are limited.

Surely west coast eagles or Fremantle could use him?

Hish could be useful for any of Brisbane, Carlton, Fremantle, Gold Coast, North, St. Kilda, West Coast.

Liam Ryan hadn't even done a WAFL pre season prior to his WAFL debut in 2017 - didn't come down from Geraldton until a few games into the 2017 season, debuted in the Subi reserves. Tank must still be questionable.

:thumbsu: Liam, another Subi flag in the short term.

In a team where hish kerbatieh averages over 30% of possessions of inside 50's .how do you rate his year..his last 6 games have been consistently good..your thoughts?

He's been good, but not great. He might have one more year at VFL level before anyone takes him but if nobody does I hope Essendon take him Category B.

Brolic, Switowski and Fritsch are my big three potential VFL pick ups.
The first two are unlikely to get picked up from what I've heard, rightly or wrongly. Those who were invited to the state combine are apparently the only realistic ones.

Switowski was but has injured himself I believe, unfortunate. Fritsch was my favourite anyway and looks like a solid HFF with a deadly boot so I'd be more than happy to use a speculative third rounder on him.

Think Kerbatieh's done his dash with Carlton, would've been rookied end of last season off his Northern Blues season, would have liked to see him on our rookie list last year rather than giving Gallucci a 2nd season.

I'm probably bias but I really think Pat Wilson from Sturt is a good chance to get rookie-listed. Beautiful kick and a good decision maker.

Steven Slimming also a chance (only 19 so not really mature-age) but, ironically, may need to bulk up a bit to play AFL.

I've been a Matt Guelfi fan for a while now. Nice mover from Claremont. I rated him at last year's draft and has added more goal kicking to his game this year. Just seems too good for WAFL sometimes.

Jarrod Garlott recons he's ready for a return as well. Was OK on the weekend 16 possessions and 8 tackles. Hasn't set the world on fire, but we know he's capable at AFL level.

I agree with you FWIW, Brolic and Switkowski should be on an AFL list next year but I suspect they won't be

It seems like the majority of teams that invest in recruiting state level talent always have one foot out the door with them. Like Richmond with Marcon, never let him show he could play and delisted him after 12 months.

Liam Ryan or Liam Ryan or Liam Ryan....

But truth be told that mark of Saunders was pretty impressive too!

These marks wouldn't have been out of place for the AFL mark of the years (all but Ryan's 2nd mark I'd put ahead of what we had to offer).
