You're confusing the 2005-2006 version of Burton with the 2010 model. He is no better defensively than what Walker is. Not to mention the constant falling over, dropping simple chest marks and missing easy shots at goal... all of which he was guilty of again tonight.

Walker and Burton have very similar stats for the season (across all games including SANFL).
If Burton should be dropped for his performances, then Walker shouldn't be picked for his.
Burton has just completed an ordinary month of football, how long can you justify carrying him?
Burton 12 posessions no goals, he applied no defensive pressure and has no power in his legs.
Walker for Norwood 16 possessions and kicked 3.3 and can kick over 40 metres.
Anyway back to your analysis, if their stats were similar, why drop Walker and not Burton? Burton wont be playing in 2011, Walker will. Its basic list development.

we might as well play Tex so we can get used to him going missing for a half, not chasing and missing set shots
I'm sure when he's in the side you'll judge him just as objectively as you have judged Burton
There is a difference though, Walker is developing while Burton is 32 years of age and finished as a player. Some people might be so fearful to accept change that they would rather see someone like Burton out there offering nothing rather than accept the reality that Burton is a liability who now cant kick more than 35 metres.

The above describes Burton at the moment actually. Why are you not calling for him to be removed from the team?
why bother when you guys are doing such a good job?
Out of curiosity, do you believe Marty Mattner is a "weak character"? Much like Walker, he seemed to enjoy being at the Crows, but like Walker was played out of position and his form suffered markedly to the point where he was in and out of the team. When the Swans offered him a better contract and the opportunity of a regular first team spot, who could blame him for jumping at the opportunity? I dont think people are suggesting Tex is going to walk out on the club, but if another club gets in his ear "Hey Taylor, we think you're an incredible talent, we want to sign you up to an increased contract, play you in your natural position and give you the chance to make the full-forward spot your own", I dont think he would be "weak" to accept that opportunity.
Personally, if I felt I wasn't getting the opportunities I deserved in my job, and I was getting overlooked for others who weren't performing any better than me, I'd be listening very carefully to other offers that came my way. I'm not suggesting Tex would think the same way, but I certainly wouldn't hold it against him if he did.
I was just talking to a person I work with who is actually in a close circle of freinds with Tex. She doesnt follow footy that close but when some of us were talking about this round and about dropping Burton for Walker my co worker pipes up out of the blue with "I'll be surprised if he is there next year. Craigy hates him and Tex hates Craigy".
Really hope she is wrong!
