8 times AA would put him above Dean Cox as probably the greatest ruckman in history, and he's well on track. Worth celebrating for sure.

To be fair to the OP, we’ve literally had dozens of threads on Dangerfield and Martin over the years. Martin was a 4x AA, explosive, huge in finals. Dangerfield more AA and similar to Martin. Gawn is different. A pure workhorse that isn’t acknowledged because he hasn’t had the flash of the other two. We tend to judge the highlight reels when judging players.

Gawn is every bit a champion and as good as Martin, Dangerfield, Voss, Ablett etc. He is after all a midfielder.

Now you’ll get the inevitable w***ers laughing that off. You’ll get the RFC that cuddle their Tigers teddies at night and whom want a sleeve like ‘Duth-Ty’, and yes it’s primarily RFC fans on here because they are far less tolerable than Geelong fans when discussing Dangerfield, but it’s what it is, Gawn is one of the best ever.
