Twelve months ago, Gawny was really working hard through pre-season. As a guy who’s 208 centimetres tall, he has great versatility, great running ability, and is very coachable. Unfortunately, as we know, he had his knee injury, and required his second knee reconstruction. His attitude and his positiveness towards this injury has been outstanding. He’s been - like Pickles - extremely diligent with his recovery. He’s gone above and beyond what the Club’s expected of him, not only with his rehab and his recovery, but with his involvements with the Club - his DeeTV, and his capacity to work with other players and try and get the best out of the whole Club, not just himself. His body has completely changed from the way it looked twelve months ago, he’s in a position where he’ll be able to start full training when we come back, and already he’s - we’d estimate - thirty per cent ahead of where he was at this time last pre-season. So, he’s really set himself up this year to hopefully play some good AFL footy in the future. - Aaron Greaves (midfield development coach)

Should we expect to see a bit of a hulk action out of Gawn?

The Big fella is looking good....should put on a little more over the pre season and hopefully can play some good football next year, I'm looking forward to watching him.

In the 'best 22' thread I had him in the starting 18, resting in a forward pocket.

This guy , if fit and ready, is a monty to be in the best 22. Will be a star.

Putting on significant weight @ 208cms would be a ****ing hard slog. The knee reco wouldn't have helped either - squats etc out of the question for quite a while... still, hope to see some senior action from the big fella next year. :thumbsu:

Really sucks he did his ACL he would have been awesome in 2012 for us.

What an asset it will be to have this guy back on the park

Would be a great inclusion , has so much upside to his game , just hope the big fella can get his body right

What is this based on?

His footballing ability.

When has he shown that?

I'll make it clear that I'd love Gawny to make it but to suggest he will easily be in our best 22 based on a couple of games is a huge reach at best right now.

No he wont be in the starting 18, not a chance in hell. Stop overrating this guy, he's played 3 ordinary games, missed a goal from the square and unfortunately has now had 2 knee reco's. I feel for the guy but I would delist him. Just my opinion.

Thank goodness you're not our list manager.

lol, ruckman that has had 2 reco's & played 3 games in 2 years. Yep I would delist him.

A 21 year old, 208 cm ruckman, who has effectively played one year of senior footy, and shown more in limited game time as a ruckman at Casey than Spencer and Martin put together???? Wowser!

Wowser! Martin when in the ruck in 2011 dominated! Gawn couldn't get a game because of Martin. And as for Spencer I would probably delist him as well. I would draft a ruckman, keep Martin & have Mitch as backup.

Actually Gawn played some games with Martin before injury so... yeah...

Martin 8th for Melbourne in the b&f

Gawn 6th for Casey in the B&F

Why do people overrate this bloke?
