Ask yourself HHF, is it hard to believe that Gawn wasn't a great player as he was skinny and had average skills, then he got tall and started taking marks and getting tap outs on smaller high-school kids?

I don't have many 'sources' or 'inside stories' about the club. This is one, the other is that i used to be in a semi romantic relationship (not so long ago ended, but still friends) with the daughter of someone high up in the club, who i have heard some things from including that we have told Wines that we will take him at 4 if available.
If that doesnt happen or someone comes out lauding Gawn as a dominate school boy footy player at 16, then call me a liar, but not now.

I never said you were lying about Gawn, I just (seemingly wrongly) doubted that you may not have been telling the truth about everything you've said.

I know he was never a star at a younger age, but he dominated in Year 12. He's still involved there and lives in the area, IIRC.

If you re-read most post i think you'll find i said he started playing well year 11/12 went he came back to school 3 heads taller than most kids.

I wish Gawn the best of luck and hope he can be the big man at the Dees for the next 8 years because we need it, he was always a nice kid when i saw him around. Just got a bit ahead of himself when drafted, but i'm sure a couple of knee reco's would have bought him back down to earth.

Alright BigSexc take it easy mate, appreciate the inside word on Maximum. Fair to say it's unsurprising to hear that his footballing ability is probably not on par with others in the AFL... but the man is a giant. Sandilands is a star, but his skills are pretty terrible. He's a great player because he's so damn huge, and bugger the rest of it. With good coaching (both on a personal and team level) the lack of skill can be disguised such that it doesn't have a bad effect on the team's performance.
