And Holmes' 20 touch game last night was miles more influential than Daicos' 26 possession game. There are more important things in this game than just disposals especially when one is playing much more time in midfield than the other.
I don't want to get into a comparison of Daicos and Holmes as players. To me they both look absolute elite talents. And Daicos did a lot of good stuff he just wasn't the dominant mid on the ground in the match winning quarter like Holmes. This is, I believe, what foodles05 was getting at in a recent post.
HOW they get the ball and what they do with it. Not how often.
Quality > quantity.

Totally! I think I may commented in another thread a while ago how much he reminds me of J.Kelly. Glad I'm not the only one. With his hair a bit longer he reminded me of a former no. 9 of ours, now one of our assistant coaches.
A bit taller and a bit quicker, but he's becoming just as hard. And if he can be as good, I won't have any complaints. Might even be better.
That ball floats a bit. Kicking style is a little wonky. I dont think he was passing it to blicavs but sam.
He is a lot quicker then kelly.Totally! I think I may commented in another thread a while ago how much he reminds me of J.Kelly. Glad I'm not the only one.
That kick was elite. The gif doesn’t do it justice. That ball floats a bit. Kicking style is a little wonky. I dont think he was passing it to blicavs but sam.
in saying that i think i could be proven wrong about holmes. He may become a gun inside mid where his kicking doesnt matter as much. He has lifted on my shimmy meter this season.
You may be right. That kick was elite. The gif doesn’t do it justice.
sometimes it takes those two shits you didn't want to giveShit kick to shit kick and the result = goal
Some stellar stuff there. That second sequence where he won it working back defensively, Stewart spilled it, he won it again, got it to Rhys, linked up again aa the ball went forward, and was then running with our ball-carriers as they took it inside 50 tells you everything you need to know about this kid's ceiling.
As I said, quicker and taller but otherwise looks very similar. He is a lot quicker then kelly.
In the face yes. Not sure how thats relevant. He doesnt move or kick like kelly. As I said, quicker and taller but otherwise looks very similar.

I do find it amazing how even when our win was led by a kid with big contributions from other young players the story is still about how the old guys once again got it done. Meanwhile Collingwood pick one of the oldest teams in the comp and the media talk about them as a team of kids rebuilding who took it up to the old veterans at Geelong.
Watch Daicos closely though, he is getting the ball in congestion and then assessing the best option. Most 1st year players are rushing but he doesn't. He's a freakishly good talent. And Holmes' 20 touch game last night was miles more influential than Daicos' 26 possession game. Yep. looks every bit as good as Walsh. Not to mention he had 5 clearances for the matched compared to 1 from Holmes. Holmes was well beaten to 3 quarter time but lucky for him Collingwood didn't kick straight.Watch Daicos closely though, he is getting the ball in congestion and then assessing the best option. Each to their own. I was at the game yesterday and the way he moved reminded me of Kelly (for the first time). Others seem to agree. In the face yes. Not sure how thats relevant. He doesnt move or kick like kelly.
I like the cut of your jib and would like to subscribe to your newsletter
I can't help you, then. The way he leans forward when he runs is very similar, not to mention the elusiveness, hardness and tackling.FWIW other than the 9 and the hair I don’t think they are similar players.
Maybe you're thinking of late in his career? He was very fleet of foot early days, especially before he broke his leg.He is a lot quicker then kelly.
