Agree, though there's some pretty good players from that 2020 draft:

Errol Gulden (pick 32 - Sydney)
Archie Perkins (pick 9 - Essendon)
Sam Berry (pick 28 - Adelaide)
Tom Powell (pick 13 - North Melbourne)
Brandon Walker (pick 50 - Fremantle)
Nikolas Cox (pick 8 - Essendon)
Riley Thilthorpe (pick 2 - Adelaide)
Oliver Henry (pick 17 - Collingwood)
Jake Bowey (pick 21 - Melbourne)
Logan McDonald (pick 4 - Sydney)
Jamarra Ugle-Hagan (pick 1 - Western Bulldogs)
Denver Grainger-Barras (pick 6 - Hawthorn)
Heath Chapman (pick 14 - Fremantle)
Maurice Rioli (pick 51 - Richmond)

From that list I'd have him ahead of all except the Swans pair as I said. To be honest I'd take him first if I had to make a choice!

I would have him currently in front of all bar Gulden, in 5 years that will change when the KPP mature.
Ionically we put a bid on Gulden but Sydney matched.
Imagine having both

I’ve said I’d only have Gulden in front of him currently
But I reckon his upside is massive compared to Guldens.
I expect his career to be a very good one, but will be consistently the same output his current playing at

Reckon we'd take Holmes over anybody listed there pretty comfortably. Only debatable ones on current form are Gulden and Chapman.

There's a few with huge potential (Perkins, JUH, McDonald) but let's not get into the buzzwords. On what's been shown to date Holmes is right up there.

The worst one is DGB to the Mayblooms...compounded by us taking SDK a year prior with a later pick.

The funny thing is we bid on Gulden but Sydney matched, we then took Neale the next pick.

But on topic, I'd take Holmes over almost every player there.

After all the talk about Holmes, in the first final they will have someone run with him, so he will find it harder will interesting to watch

The beauty of our 2022 team is that even if Holmes receives some close attention, we still have the running power of Smith, Duncan and Menegola.

If we have someone running with Holmes in this finals series, that is a massive win for us. So many other Cats players will appreciate the lack of opposition attention to their roles while time is being put into curtailing Max's output. And I still back him in to break away often enough from the attention, anyway.

Brad Close will hand write him a thank you letter

Yeah sorry true, but i was just talking about something new for Holmes game, and am interested how he handles things

I hope it happens for the same reason, be very interesting to see how he handles it.
Likewise Daicos roaming free along half back, won't be allowed to happen in finals, let's see who the REAL rising star is...
Hint, it's SDK

You are either seriously underrating Holmes or grossly overrating Langdon.

Langdon out side of the boot goal was classy .

Max not there yet , but going well.

Max 16 touches a game will get better.

Langdon 21 touches a game ,

Max is getting there .

No Rocker, cannot agree. Langdon is a super fit hard runner and that’s it. Very limited player outside ability to cover ground. Holmes is so much more.

Langdon plays 96% gametime, Holmes 71%. On a per gametime basis Holmes is already in front. They're even on disposals.

Adjusted for gametime, Holmes is up 50%, on score inlvovements, 40% on inside 50s, 140% on tackles, 30% on marks.

Completely unrelated but I kind of wonder how old man Selwood with his 67% game time has compared to say the usual mids of the comp with their 85 odd. I guess add 20 to 25% onto each of his stats and he looks pretty solid.

MAX is very smart like that under ground handball to Miers then miers handalled to Close who stuffed it hitting the post, MAXY has tricks
His hardness at the ball and man was important in the 2nd term too. Along with Stengle, Close and a couple others. That combination of pace, determination and fearlessness is what makes him stand out already.
