Cheers. Don't worry, we want that port 2023 1st to be as close to pick 1 as possible and hope you guys get the better end of the JHF trade

Edit. I wonder if you didn't lose JHF, would sheezel have been your pick 1? Kniwing you had picks 2 and 3 it allowed a wardlaw and sheezel as it covered the talent and gap spots

The club has said publicly since, Sheezel was #1 on our draft board.

They saw the opportunity with the mega trade to secure Wardlaw and Brayden George (they had Wardlaw 3rd) and get 2 of the top 3 players on the board.

The other was Ashcroft.

I believe we had Cadman outside our top 5.

We had Brayden George around the top 10 in our rankings and hence why you guys secured our second round pick.

Imagine if Max did get the job and really restricted Curnow!!!!...still, on paper we can say anything, its on the day that counts but I'd back Max in in the form he is in to have first crack

Exactly. Have a crack and then go to plan B if he starts to heat up.

One on one strength the obvious concern but if Benny Hart comparisons are anywhere close then he should have a crack.

Max has been playing well on smaller types, Curnow would be too powerful for him
Yep, it’s not the 4cm height different but the massive gap in weight, strength and power. Curnow is a physical beast and would likely outbody Max IMO. Not that Max wouldn’t want the hardest match up but has been on agile, skilful indigenous smalls as you say (Bolton, Rioli, Walters).

Murray to Curnow

I haven’t watched much of Carlton but I heard yesterday that McKay plays more up the ground than Curnow, I would have thought it was the other way round given Curnows aerobic capacity.
I reckon Murray seems more suited to McKay. Butts not suited to anyone currently 😆

Good point mate I just suppose Mc Kay at 200cm compared to Butts 198cm seemed better aligned, and Murray better suited to go with Curnows freak athleticism.

Hard to say I am not worried by the Blues KPFs tonight.

Week 8 - Inside 50's - 74 - McKay and Curnow have 14 scoring shots, 9 goals and 5 marks inside 50.

Week 20 - Inside 50's - 47 - McKay and Curnow have 5 scoring shots, 3 goals and 2 marks inside 50.

Winning the midfield battle is key.

of course midfield is always key but you aren't concerned at all by their forward talls (relative to our KPDs)?

Absolutely we should be concerned about their talls up front, but our forward line overall is more dynamic.

I back Murray to do a good job, but one of the other talls may get off the chain.

Think we really need ROB to play much across CHB to help out.

With Fog back, we can even push Thilthorpe back if our defence is under the pump.

How convenient big vic team McKay gets off a charge that we would have had our player suspended for every day of the week just in time to play us to open gather round...its almost like it was fate
I thought for once the tribunal was going to do us a favour but alas things returned to normal and he got off, and may very well be the game winner tonight

Do they call them McKurnow?
And if not, why not?
