None of the updates have added BC. The 60GB PAL version released in AUS used emulation software to provide BC, but was taken out with the introduction of newer models.

Well, it's in the pipeline at least.
Hopefully it comes A S A P.
Btw, I have the 60GB PAL version that was one of the first releases, so any idea if Max Payne 1-2 have already been emulated to work on it? If so, i'll go right out and buy the PS2 discs.

I'll be calling Xbox about my situation sometime tonight or tomorrow. Hopefully they can maybe transfer my spent 2400 into my USA account and then i can redownload it. That's what i'll ask for anyway.

I don't think the original 60GB PS3 was emulation BC, pretty sure it was the actual hardware for those models.

Just to reconfirm...

The 60GB PAL PS3 i have is the one without the ps2 hardware in it. But the ps2 max payne games will work on them for sure? and because of what reason again? because one of the system updates will have provided backward compatibility via emulation?

do you know the link from playstation that lists the BC ps2 games for pal territories? i remember seeing it once, but dont know where to look.

Honestly I don't understand how this emulation works. All I know is I have the same type of model PS3 you do and most PS2 games work. Max Payne being one of the bigger titles will most likely work.

Here is a Backwards compatibility list and it confirms all Max Paynes work perfectly.

Awesome. I hadnt even thought about that. Looks like a pretty good list of titles at least. Most importantly, the Max Payne games.

Im there at JB Hi-Fi first thing in the morning, i'll be pushing people out of my way like the dude from Assassins Creed.

Take-Two has announced that BioShock 2, Mafia II, Max Payne 3 and Red Dead Redemption have all been delayed until Fiscal 2010.

"The decision to shift a release date is never an easy one, especially with a product as highly anticipated as BioShock 2," says Chief Executive Officer of Take-Two, Ben Feder. "We felt that it was essential to invest the additional time to ensure that this title will deliver what its fans expect and deserve. As a result, we will now be launching sequels to several of our strongest franchises -- including BioShock 2, Mafia II, Max Payne 3 and Red Dead Redemption -- during the next fiscal year."

Technically this could mean that they might be released in late November (since the "fiscal year" is silly), but I wouldn't get my hopes up. This really opens up Take-Two's release schedule for the later part of 2009, and leaves them with very few AAA titles. While I doubt anyone is too shocked to see Mafia or Max Payne go, finding out that BioShock 2 isn't making '09 is full of awfulness and suck.

Interesting new teaser trailer for Max Payne 3. The trailer shows nothing new really. But what's most interesting is the end, which states a WINTER 2009 release (Which taking into account it's a US trailer would mean Summer months here).

This actually technically can still happen as the game was delayed to 'Fiscal 2010' which starts in 2009. It still sticks to the original time frame given when the game was announced of Winter 2009. So could we very well see Max Payne 3 in 2009?

MAX PAYNE 3 DELAYED
Take-Two originally stated all four of its biggest 2010 titles, BioShock 2, Mafia II, Max Payne 3 and Red Dead Redemption, would see a release in the first half of 2010.

Now, that doesn't appear to be the case anymore.

In its preliminary fourth quarter results ending October 31, the company stated Max Payne 3 is now slotted for a release during the fourth quarter of fiscal 2010 (August-October).

Max Payne 3 is coming out soon and just thought id make a thread to gage how much interest there is in the game and to see what people will think it will be like.

Also welcom are thoughts on the two previous game Max payne and Max Payne 2(cant remember the other part of the title if any one knows it would love to know).

Max is still on his way, seems Rockstar maybe went back to the drawing board with the look of Payne after the backlash from the first screenshots.

Rockstar Games would like you to know that Max Payne 3 is still a game that it plans to release. At least, that’s the message I’m extrapolating from a recent Rockstar Games tweet, which contains the words “he’s coming” alongside two new images of the titular hero of the series.

Max Payne 3 will be released on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC in March 2012, according to Rockstar.

The game will also have multi-player, which Rockstar is describing as a "compelling experience". It'll feature traditional modes, in addition to clan support and a "deep reward and leveling system."

Only Rockstar would announce a release date for a game without showing any video footage and only 4 or so screenshots so far.
