I started a thread on captain Nick following the Adelaide game celebrating his efforts. Again on Friday night, even when the game was done and dusted, captain Nick’s intensity was at a high level. They say the Swans were competitive for so long because of Kirk, and I reckon we have a real gem of a leader in Nick. I can see why he is so hated. He has a funny looking head, sort of like a turtle’s head. When he is involved in a play however, his involvement always makes a statement. His tackle on Rooke three years ago was a tackle for the ages. He doesn’t just take players on, he takes the world on. He doesn’t just run back and help, he takes vinegar and brown paper with him. He is ugly and beautiful all at the same time. He is as sober as a judge and as committed as Romeo. He’s an absolute beauty. Tag him, smash him, figure four leg lock him if you so wish, but get the hell out of the way because big Nick is charging his way through.
