Maxwell gone.

Just saw the roughhead incident.. All Geelong supporters saying he will go is just wishful thinking.... And as a geelong supporter myself, He will not go for that.. Very soft.
Yep, but the MRP obviously doesn't agree. Johnson incident was even more soft and he got 2 reduced to 1. With Roughheads good record he should still get 1 week because it was intentional, low impact and to the body, total 225 points reduced by 50% still leave him a week off. How anyone can suggest otherwise is wrong given the way they classified the Johnson incident just a week ago. Doesn't matter if it is finals or not, they had no problems rubbing Johnson out for 1 or 2 if he challenged.

I don't think the lack of footage will save Maxwell, if you look at the footage again, the umpire is about five to ten metres from the incident and subsequently reports Maxwell. MRP will assess but I think the umpire's report consolidates it. Perhaps a week when the dust has settled.

Sorry what? Whilst I agree that he shouldn't go, trying to tackle with your legs is the poorest defence known to man.

Maybe i'm not clear enough, He stuck out his leg and collected his mid rift. A lot different to stock standard kick or sweep to the ankle.

I would say both bumped the man off the ball, but with Stevie J's carry over points he was always going to get a week. Roughie doesn't have any, so he will be fine, but you never know now a days.

I don't think you understand, there is a system they use to classify incidents to remove 'opinion'. A good record reduces by 25%, even with the reduction he will still get 1 week if the incident is classed as intentional which it should. There is no way to argue it wasn't intentional given the amount of time he had to run up behind him and bump him front on. Johnsons was reckless because the incident happened in a shorter time frame and he wanted to block.

the way his nose was bleeding and the way he was looking at puopolo when he lined him up it will be:

intentional
high impact
behind play
4 weeks and 3 with an early plea.
Big strife with his history.

And what history would that be?

I think Roughy's was worse than Maxwells, though the result wasn't. Roughie just cannoned into a bloke a mile off the ball. Just absolute stupidity. Maxwell was trying to block Puoplo's path and got him high. Having said this, Maxwell is very likely to get 1-2 weeks and Roughie will get reprimand-1 week.

Collingwood's next opposition would be hoping Maxwell does not get rubbed out. It was like the Pies were playing a man short tonight. his total contribution to the evening was - having a tantrum when a free kick was given against him, kicking into the man on the mark, giving a 50 metre penalty and getting reported for smashing a bloke in the nose off the ball.

Roughead is gone. Pretty much exact same situation as Johnsons, except more of a hit than a bump which makes it worse. Unless of course the AFL wants to make an even greater mockery of the MRP and show everyone how corrupt it is.

Steve Johnson verdict
Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Sydney Swans Football Club, the incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point). This is a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level One offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction

If as you say they are identical then Rough with no carry over points and a good record will get a reprimand

However I don't think it was as bad as SteveJ

Can't see how Rough misses a week as the incident is certainly no worse than SteveJ

It's outrageous! Hawthorn should appeal :)

Rougheads was intentional, Stevies got classed as reckless because of the short amount of time and the situation (the swans player was running towards him). He didn't run up to him and bump him out of nowhere like Roughhead.
