By putting a line through someone, I am meaning that I CANNOT see them playing regular quality senior football at NMFC in 2-3 years time. I understand we have to keep playing some of these guys over that time out of necessity, but yeah, I just think the following players have too many deficiencies to be quality NMFC players in 2-3 years time. I will bookmark this thread & retrieve it in 2-3 years - it will be an interesting exercise. I might end up being completely off the mark but here goes:

Aaron Edwards
Lindsay Thomas
Luke Delaney
Ben Warren
Matt Campbell
Cruize Garlett
Lachlan Hansen
Cam Richardson
Ben McKinley
Rob Tarrant

I have my pen poised on the following but will wait another month or 2:

Sam Wright
Levi Greenwood
Todd Goldstein

I know a lot of you will disagree with some of them, or all of them, but that's the beauty of the exercise - none of us know.

Probably not a great time to do this as we may have about 2 players from our current list lol
From your list
Aaron Edwards will be there
Lindsay Thomas will be there
Luke Delaney today was a just a bad game for him , have liked him so yes be there
Ben Warren probably won't be , so gone
Matt Campbell be there
Cruize Garlett never plays so gone
Lachlan Hansen would keep but may be traded
Cam Richardson possibly be there but needs to improve rapidly
Ben McKinley gone
Rob Tarrant will be there may be traded

Thomas an outside chance of avoiding the end list, Edwards an even further outsider. Otherwise agree with the definites: L. Delaney had a shocker today, hasn't been terrible overall but not good enough for long-term; Warren tries but just isn't up to it; Campbell hasn't shown consistency for years; Garlett's a good depth player and little more; I'm bewildered by the renewed support for Hansen on this board after everything we've had to endure in the past; Richardson yet to prove anything; McKinley same; Tarrant deserving of multiple lines for the multiple chances he's had without any sign of quality - Josh Smith without the good marks.

The three maybes need to step up and show their best soon, hopefully at least one of them can be spared.

Luke has to stay due to the Brother rule . We must carry on the tradition from the Cockatoo brothers (never played seniors) right through to the Harvey and Rawlings combo's.
Quote Rob Tarrant- shitmen, actually could be cpt of the shitmen
Humorous NN LOL

Having calmed down, I will try to look @ this rationally.
So in 2-3 years time, let's say end of 2014?

Aaron Edwards 2014 probably be his last season - will end that year @ 30 years old and will want to improve on this year so far. Wouldn't put a line through him though
Lindsay Thomas He gets over the yips = 40 goal a year small forward. Would not put a line through him, because there is 1 main aspect of his game that stops him regularly from being very good.
Luke Delaney Can't comment. Not sure which one he is
Ben Warren Has a go, unfortunately it's not always good enough. Hopefully if he does leave, he goes to QLD (returns home) and we get a decent pick/player who ends up being best 22. Solid VFL player but not quite there at AFL. Hard to see him being longtime.
Matt Campbell Not sure where he is at. I would assume we are playing finals by 2014, and don't think he contributes well enough consistently enough to be a best 22 in a finals team. Maybe good backup for Thomas, but will be 27 at end of 2014, and will have probably moved on by then. Not a bad one to put 'a line through'
Cruize Garlett Gone. But most likely to another club. Just can't quite crack the 22, but is doing well @ VFL. Another club may take him in the way Port took McCarthy.
Lachlan Hansen Will still be there, and hopefully for long past 2014.
Cam Richardson Gone
Ben McKinley Gone
Rob Tarrant Gone. Hopefully trade and get a pick 60ish for him who is a similar player i.e project KPP

Sam Wright If he can do jobs like he did on SJ regularly, he will get a line through him. Except it will be a different line. It will be a line of 'takes a spot in the 22'. Confident he can get to that level in fairly quick time.
Levi Greenwood Thought he was a coaches favourite? Seems to have fallen by the wayside this year. Any clubs need an inside midfielder for tagging/defensive roles and some grunt? Would take about draft pick 40-50 for him at the moment. But not prepared to write him off just yet. I'm with you on this
Todd Goldstein How things change. Most people considered him AA last year-now you're prepared to write him off and say he won't be on our list in a couple of years. Would at least wait until end of 2013, not a couple of months, to see if he will be gone by end of 2014.

Others with a 'cloud' around them:
Brent Harvey - due to age, has a line through him
Aaron Black - if he can't get a game there is something not right with him and he won't want to play VFL for the rest of his career. Not putting a line through him, but not confident he will be there at end of 2014.
Cam Pedersen - Good depth player, but may want to ply his trade elsewhere. Is in that list of Wright/Greenwood etc in that may want to wait a couple of months.

TLDR; I would only put lines through Garlett (opportunity), McKinley, Richardson, Tarrant (derp) and Harvey (age). Everyone else has a legitimate chance of being on our 2015 list. Would expect another 9-12 to be not be on it though.

Amazing place BF.

I'd reckon Luke Delaney could set fire to Aegis Park and everyone on here would still want to pump up his tyres whereas Richardson who has shown considerably more in his brief appearances before getting injured would remain friendless.

People just nail themselves to certain blokes come hail or shine.

Can someone give me an update of how Ben Warren played today? Didnt see any of it.

In the past his leading has opened things up for Petrie and I see Petrie had 5 today. Coincidence?

10/12 correct.
Got LT and Lachie wrong.
I'm still not convinced on Greenwood. More than 6 good weeks required to 'make it' but at least he's answered the call thus far in 2014.
So I'll either end up with 10/13 or 11/13. Not bad I suppose. If NMFC find out, they'll offer me a 5 year contract based on that!!!!
