I remember seeing some random old bloke who they interviewed on TV. He's retired and goes around Victoria watching races. They asked him at Swan Hill how it compared to Warnambool. He said something about The 'Bool being a load of wank.

I went one year when Napthine was racing minister and the greens were trying to ban jumps racing so I could say I went to it. Dad and his mates rent out a house and go every single year. It was fine but I don't think I could commit to doing it on an annual basis. Betting wise it is hard with an inconsistent track that is usually bottomless. Having a token bet in the cup is about my interest in it now.

It's a bloody good time is what it is. Atmosphere around town all week is amazing, it's a beautiful place anyway and for someone like me who loves a drink and a punt it's heaven.

Not sure it's overhyped, I've loved it every time and can't wait to get back there again hopefully next year. This year was just too tricky with Easter and Anzac day so close. I think it's actually a testament to how good it is when they still pull the crowds they do, despite the proximity to those public holidays.

I am sure it's a fantastic day out if you get to the track, if we're talking about the racing itself, it's a farce.

Usually it's wet, the track chops up, then there's the caller (he calls every jumps race like it's the Grand Annual at Cheltenham). Our jumpers are nothing more than stayers who can't sprint, let's be serious about that for a moment.

Pretty sure the pool is TAB only, or these pools would be significantly higher.

Actually I am more than pretty sure, or they wouldn't be offering mid-tote on greys and harness. I have also seen a few of them offer a max payout figure, if they were getting a cut, that wouldn't be a thing.
