Maybe Better has been retired after injuries in the Winning Edge. X-rays after the race showed bone chips and a weakness in the cannon bone that could lead to a fracture.

Good to see the horses welfare was a priority. I really fancied him in that Melbourne Cup 2 years back but he just couldnt get there. He deserves a good paddock to enjoy his retirement.

Yeah i backed him 2 years ago as well, ran on well for third. Backed him last year but unfortunately injuries forced him out.

A shame this is, a horse i always liked, i would have loved to see him win a big race.

He was a revelation in 2006,first home of the locals & just improved with every run.

Goes without saying that I had a little each way at 151-1 earlier this year for the cup.....................arghh
