Seems like Norf's big issue is defence and lack of experience. I guess you'd be paying more for the experience and intel from a reasonably good defence, as well as the player.

I guess also you're banking on Maynard only being there for a few years, after which the cap space is cleared out for up and coming talent.

But according to the Wobbler Faithful he's staying at Collingwood (for free, becaue they have no cap again) and this is all just hypothetical talk

I think you misunderstood what I was saying here. If the news articles are true, that we were heavily interested in him, how/why would we pursure him if we were worried about cap space?

Fair enough. I think Maynard will probably stay at Collingwood too, although to be honest, I would think about letting him go and cash in on band 1 compo (Gold Coast have your first round pick this year)

He will always be fondly remembered as a Pies Premiership player and fan favourite, but The Pies need to look to the future too before Tassie starts entering the draft next year

There's no doubt were not offering Norf level contract, but as someone else said, you need to pay huge overs to get a heart and soul type out of their club, especially when you're norf or saints.

My inclination is he was initially speaking from the heart until his agent intervened. To me, this explains the complete 180 in messaging.

I know last bit is troll bait, but I'm not certain we are on the way down, and I don't players/ club thinks that way either.
