There's a long and distinguished list. It usually lasts until they actually play a senior game or two.

It was Elton last year (purely based on 1 seconds worth of play in a NAB Cup game).

Other notables include:

David Gourdis.
Dean Putt. He was going to be our 6'7 winger.
Matt Arnott (he was No1 earlier this year - overtaken by The Beano.)
Tom Roach.
Marty McGrath was a sensation in the 2s.
Justin Plapp is the most famous.

Sometimes the fans get it right - we were all screaming for Tuck to get a game, well before he got the call-up.

I'm excited about the prospect of McBean. But it's good to have a bit of a realistic perspective which the above post shows. The way I see it, McBean is a High risk High return project player. He could end up being an absolute steal and gem or any number of things could go wrong and preventing him being effective at AFL level.

If he comes in any time before round 13 then get on him for the Brownlow because I can't see anyone else topping 33 votes.:thumbsu:

He will take time, just need him to go from being a skinny bean pole

Cant see why you would say that !!

1. High Risk (#34 is not a high risk)
2.Project Player ??? No way the kid was a gun at under age football & Was the 2nd best Ruck behind Grundy as well as being a good defender and foward - hardly project

He actually reminds me alot of the way Jack Riewoldt started out - He has a good football brain and we got a real bargain with his pick. Could easily have gone top 20

Not sure if anyone remembers this, but McBean was touted one of the best talls available in last years draft.
In fact, the media were somewhat surprised he slipped back to pick 34!

19 goals in seven matches puts him just 2 goals behind the much lauded J. Daniher. Not bad for a skinny project player! Plenty of hurdles to jump yet but the signs are looking good, and it's fantastic that we don't have to rush him in and potentially hurt his development (physically and mentally).

Honestly i wouldnt mind if we dont see McBean this year and most of next year, as that would mean that our forward line are doing their job and we are not rushed to play him. Look at Hawthorn who have only just debuted 2 players (duryea and Grimley) who have been on their list for 3+ years. Plus with Griff, Elton and Astbury being in front of him, i would hope we dont need him yet as i wouldnt want him to go through what Watts had. But I think he will be a great player and cant wait till he is weighing 100+ kilos.

The way Liam McBean's body is and that he has put on 7 kgs in his 1st pre season, I have no doubt that by March 2014 he will be 99-100kgs. He actually has a body that looks as though can put on Muscle

Liam McBean was a very very good get for the tigers

You might have to add to your sig!

Nothing against the other 2 boys but I actually requested that we sponsor The McBean with our collective BF effort.
Would have been kinda cool!

Have a heap of time for Choco...great effort getting him to our club.

McBeAN is going to be a handy player at the least...

Astbury Griff & co will get games before him when they start outperforming his VFL efforts.

Maybe we could have him as our No1 sponsor prospect for 2014 ? I'd put my name down for that one :thumbsu:

Would love to see him get a run in the seniors at some stage late this year, but probably won't happen.
