not blaming umps at all for costing us this game.
Midfield going completely missing after halftime, not getting first to the ball or numbers around the contest.
Then ofcourse easy kicks at goal costly misses.

But as someone said earlier someone from the club needs to really stand up for the players and cop a fine for having a crack at the umpires.

Just need to say something like i find it hard to believe that when we are 1st to the ball an laying so many tackles per game, the opposition can have double the amount of free kicks for, every week.
Generally the team that gets in an under more an applys the most pressure around the ground with tackles etc will always win the free kick for tally.

Was confirmed today on 7, we are being reamed by the umps away from home.

How do we address this

Pretty much.

Stop complaining. Umpires or no umpires, our own players lost this game.

I thought we could have won despite the maggots

VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV
Our free kicks at Subiaco 128(25.6 ave) for 124(24.8 ave) against.
Ratio 1 : 1 in 5 games

Our free kicks over there 59(14.75 ave) for 88(22 ave) against .
Ratio 1 : 1.5 in 4 games

I think its not so much that the other teams get more free kicks than average when we play over there . Rather it seems like they tend to give us less . They turn a blind eye to frees that other teams are given . ********!

I already knew that.
But I tell ya what you wrote was so bloody good to read.
We need more facts. :thumbsu:

Steady on there, the last 3 times Channel Kerry has 'confirmed' something to do with AFL, there have been massive defamation payouts!!:eek:

I'm all for pointing out that the maggots are toweling us up in a most egregious manner, but I hope we have a better source than Channel 7...
:D:D

The free against Tarrant was plain horrible. I find it hilarious that it's almost always a free if you TOUCH an opponent above the shoulders but so many other far worse infringements are ignored. Umpires of his experience should have a better feel for the game than paying that rubbish.
Oh and you do tend to get shafted interstate - we managed a solid 10 frees against Port last week. The count doesn't have to be even but 10 in a game is pretty hard to believe.

West Coast's stats because I was concerned it was a WA issue.

Free kicks at Subiaco 101 (20.2 ave) for 74 (14.8 ave) against

Free kicks away from home 93 (23.25 ave) for 93 (23.25 ave) against

Well that's a relief!!!

10 is hard to believe?????

Freo's last 2 games on the road (McBurney umpiring both)

vs Carlton: 9 for 20 against
vs Roos: 9 for 19 against

That's -21 over 2 road matches and that is a crazy discrepancy considering we haven't really been that undisciplined

What the issue boils down to is that they're not paying free kicks both ways. They pay frees one way, but then we have to be shot/executed etc to get one ourselves

The umpiring was horrible. I understand when a situation occurs and a decision is open to interpretation with all of the grey areas in this game and I accept those. The decision against Tarrant today was unforgiveable. The umpire simply has no feel for the game and that is necessary when umpiring at the highest level. The fact that it occurred when the game was in the balance magnified it. Momentum swings in modern day footy decide games. Fremantle made enough errors to lose and North Melbourne played well enough to win but it was line ball and the umps should just stay out of it unless they really need to be involved.

No need to mention McBurney's bald head ! Hair is over rated !

Lachlan. I thought you were a moderator. You can take the boy out of Scotland...........

the problem isnt that other teams are getting too many soft ones eg tarrant crap.

Its that the other teams get away with holding us off the ball even tackling an no frees given.
Then they hardly ever pay us with a holding the ball decison or incorrect disposal.

Then when it happens the other way more of them get given in their favour.

An thats why the frees for count is ending up so lopsided

How do we address it? Stop giving away stupid free kicks like we always do. Umpires are doing their job and thats it.

No ones denying that they're doing there job, its just that they're doing it so badly and corruptly that's all.

So how long have you been an umpire Brades?

If the umpiring is bad, I want to be able to say that is consistent and bad for both teams. I can't say that with Visy McBurney.

My question is, do our team show the umps less respect than other teams, or are we any less disciplined in our tackling or manning up? IMO the umps are umpiring to the crowd, so perhaps our home crowds are less agro than other clubs. It's wharfie time for the umps, I've had enough of this biased carp.

I'm going to repeat another post I made. I was reading Matt Price's "Top Price" book over the wekend and lo and behold I came across this on page 56, in regards to our 2006 preliminary final loss to Sydney. "The umpiring didn't cost Freo the match but unambiguously poor decisions gifted Sydney easy crucial goals and deprived the Dockers of momentum". and"The Dockers had crept to within 7 points when young defender Stephen Dodd fought for the ball with 4 Swans defenders. Umpire Stephen McBurney's absurd misjudgement, that Dodd dragged the ball under, produced a crucial Swans goal and should cost McBurney a grand final berth". Now the words systematic, incompetent, possibly corrupt, certainly amateur, definately come to mind. My words, not Matt's.

so he's had it in for us for over 2 years.... geez... he's a top bloke

So they make a few mistakes, big deal - they aren't corrupt ffs. That type of thinking on this board makes us seem nothing but sore losers. Everytime we lose its "omg the umpires murdered us!", such a huge inferiority complex on these boards. If We lose, we lose due to our shit play - nothing to do with the umpires. Every year different teams end up on the wrong side of the FF/FA count, but that doesn't mean the umpires are corrupt, it just means they are undisciplined or second to the ball.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion Bradesman but I think you are naive if you think there is never any bias by umpires, that they are all essentialy good blokes doing a tough job, and even more naive if you think we are the only code in the world without a hint of corruption.

LOL, I'll pay that, thats quite funny:D

Yeah, not really.

The Dodd decision was correct. All day long. The decision against Tarrant was a disgrace and whoever made it should never, ever umpire anything ever again.

And yeah, McBurney is ****.

I don't think you'd find anyone who'd try and dispute the Dodd decision, absolute ****up from him and had me livid when I saw him do it, funny that he tried to argue it too, was blatant.

I agree it was blatant but reason he argued is the same thing has happened in a number of games this year, 1 even worse than that an wasnt paid.
Also Healy has said a number of times during commentary i dont know why the players are panicking so much back there, ive seen the rules dvd and if there is anyone remotely close to you its ok to just knock it through.
Its only if your in poseesion of the ball and handball or kick it through that you will get penalised.
