Universal Love McDonough... ??

Because he comes up for one or two games and is forced to play a lock down roll in defence.
He is a midfielder through and through. I don't remember the last time I saw him start in the center bounce. I don't even know if it has happened before.
Adapt or go home.

So pumped to see this kid play AFL. Sounds like he is killing the VFL.

How good is it? So many young players dominating VFL - McBean, Arnott, Helbig, McDonough, Darrou all killing it and all so young. Wouldn't have expected them to be doing so well at VFL level for another two years.

Yet Coburg still seems to lose more games than we win. Until these players can collectively play their roles and our seconds team start to win more consistently, cameos won't get them a AFL spot.

Why pick him as an emergency then and overlook him for a guy you don't have down? Obviously they knew shed hamstring was tight so put Nahas as an emergency and don't overlook a kid who is named as an emergency. Not to mention Nahas has been playing half back? Makes it a bit null and void to say McDonough hasn't been playing forward.

Sheds is the player holding Nahas out of the team, has been all year, with him out the next in line is Nahas. McDonough is a first year player who is showing consistency, as such his efforts were rewarded by being named the emergency and that should be enough motivation from the coaching staff to say your efforts are being noticed, keep it up.

Fact is we don't need McDonough or McBean to play to know they'll be there next year or some time into the future, can't say the same about Nahas even though right now Nahas is the better player.

But we really shouldn't be degrading the celebration of the efforts by McDonough week in into a discussion about Nahas. :thumbsu:

Forgetting today i think the only player keeping Nahas out of the team was himself, he had his chance at the start of the year and never even looked like taking it. Plus i think its more Matty white's position that he should be trying to take.

Nahas is a very outside player with not enough pace, size and inside ability to impact games in finals and Edwards is better on the outside but its his inside ability that makes him incredible. Shed is unbelievable in close and Nahas has no chance of replicating that. McDonough is not very strong on the outside yet but his ability in close he is a much better replacement for Sheds.

Finals are based on hard contested possession and McDonough would/will be a better type of player to call up in that kind of game. But you would like him to have a few AFL games before that.

And right now i do not think Nahas is the better player and he is definitely not the better player going forwards.

Nahas whilst was handy for us 3 years ago - Is no longer in our best 26-28 players

People are saying here that he has been playing well at coburg and deserves his chance but the fact is that he has always dominated vfl level football - Thats why we recruited him, He was dominating vfl

But unfortunately has too many weaknesses to make it at AFL level , Small,Onesided,Not super fast & Not great skills - But a good vfl footballer

pretty annoyed when nahas dribbled that ball 5m inside 50.. then bris go other end kick a goal..he needed to do better, probably shoudve been the sub.
mcd looks similar to andrew swallow but with a great kick. really impressive. id say hes better then ohanlon..

Interesting. Would think a key back/petterd would have to come out with Henderson and Waite the only recognised forwards. Suppose they've got casboult as well but even if he's marking it 10m out its not gonna hurt us.

You lads will get to see McDonough in action this week, will be playing tomorrow!

Did you start a BF account just to tell us this? You mates with him or something? Will be pumped if true!
