Fremantle loses nothing with him losing

they've lost a good player. it didn't matter much at the time for us for the same reason losing monfries doesn't mean much right now. but for a team like freo that wants to push the top 4, he's a loss. last year was his best year at freo and he became a pretty key member. it's a loss.

Bomber had a contractual clause which allowed him to leave Geelong.

Geelong have no one to blame but themselves - they put this clause in place and then acted wounded when Bomber elected to use it.

Of course it affects Fremantle - But they did offer him a small contract which he initially baulked at signing.

Gotta admire the decision he has made. You can see how he was one of the most well liked players at two clubs. Obviously put a fair few bomber supporters off but those that know him rate him very highly.

Anyone who can't understand why ESSENDON supporters bag an ESSENDON guy for leaving ESSENDON - on bad terms, but don't bag an ESSENDON guy (let alone flag player/captain) leaving ANOTHER CLUB to come back to ESSENDON... well, frankly, you can GAGF off the ESSENDON board.


I would not hold it against Goodwin for returning to Adelaide, nor Egan to Geelong, as long as they did it the decent way - ie honestly, up front. I don't mind Monfries, or Salmon, or even Houli, going on with their careers elsewhere - they did it honestly, let us know they were off, didn't diddle the club - ie, acted professionally. Completely different scenario, to stiffing a club for coin, and being completely two-faced about it.

At the end of the day he knew he wasn't part of Essendons long term plans, then Freo came along offering him security. Do you think his preference was to go to Perth?

Actually no, I think I'll continue to fill the board with whatever happens to float my boat at any given time. Whether it be McPhee, the Draft, Pre-Season training, results, opposition, random thoughts, premiership windows, Gumby, Hird, Thompson, Membership and anything else that enters my head.

Just did a quick search. Prior to this thread, the last time I passed any comment on McPhee was back in Feb, 2011. Geez - I am REALLY hooked up on the guy aren't I?

But then again, you have shown form at levelling accusations at people without any basis in fact. Here's my favourite recent example:

Which was quickly pointed out as absolute horseshit when I produced a list of players that had all left the EFC without any negative feelings on my count.

Here; my comments relating to Monfries departure:

As for Monfries; clearly he is not the same class as Goddard, but yes I think the transition has been as good as can be expected. He was a great servant for us, and if he can secure his future at Port, I wish him all the best (except when he is playing us......).

Even went over to the Port board to congratulate them on a decent pickup who would give them great service.

Man I clearly am a twisted individual who instantly turns to venom when a player leaves us.

Once he left, I would rather discuss our current group of players - They are the one's who will share in ' Premiership Glory'.

I tell you what does thoroughly amuse me, if and when the Bombers grab a flag, the level of scorn that will be directed your way from a large contingent of people with 'ESSENDON' under their avatar will be a thing to behold.
