Like I said, the Northern Stand was completed in 2006 to bring the MCG into line.
21st century stadiums might look sexy, but history knocks it out every time.
And the G has about 180 years worth of it.
It's what happens on the field that is important, not that you have free wi-fi at a stadium.
Iconic is more important than looks.
Besides, this is not ugly.

As for best in the world, I assume we're taking about in terms of design, as atmosphere is subjective and hard to measure. In terms of design it's not old enough to look historical, it looks like a relic from the 90s. Using words like iconic, atmosphere and history are all just to distract from the fact that the design isn't up to modern standards. I'm sure it will undergo a massive renovation at some stage like it has before.

I'm more interested with watching what takes place on the field in my seat rather than how the arena looks from 300 meters above.
In your opinion, what precisely does the G lack that is not of modern standards?
 
Could be made of glass and we can get Michelle Obama to have Presidential election victory speech there in 2020?
