MCG Southern Stand upgrade

i hope they upgrade the stand, tbh half the ground looks beautiful whilst compared to the southern stand its an eyesore.

The mini upgrade on N/level 2 a few years back was appreciated. Extra leg room, cushioned seats and cup holders. Get it done on P next.

The MCC $1 Billion MCG precinct redevelopment proposal which covers the rail tracks seems to show a renovation of the Great Southern Stand with an extended top tier to the same height as the Northern Stand and a new Roof.

Wait, that was post upgrade I dealt with last year?

Felt like the bill oreilly stand at the scg (ie. low quality)
And this is why adelaide oval is better then the mcg.
Get the southern stand up to the standard of the other three, yeah, no question the mcg is better. But when half the stadium is living in the 90s it's not going to be any good. Us cities replace stadiums every 25 or so years. Goes to show how obsolete half the mcg is.

They have r*ped some cities public funds in the USA. Then move down the road and encourage another city to rebuild and steal a franchise from the first city

I love the Southern Stand. The G is a concrete bowl, its pretty for what it is. Invest the money in keeping the grass cut at Yarra Park.

Three Grand Finals have been played at Princes Park before (1942, 1943, 1945) so there is a precedent.

yes i do agree. i like my stadiums being symmetrical. i would also want the gaps filled up at spotless and metricon (not adelaide though because of the scoreboard and atmosphere)

They have just done minor upgrades to the Southern Stand. They wont do a full rebuild before the Northern Stand is paid off, looking at least 15-20 years.

Grand Final wouldnt be moved anyway. They'll do it the same way they did when the Northern Stand was built, capacity never dropped below 70,000, and the grand final wasnt moved.

would a be a huge eye-sore on TV though to have a construction sight shown instead of passionate fans at a Grand Final
