just got a good one. scott lycett as he is quality and we another ruckman. he is from sa as well. eagles have nicnat and vardy already. obviously a swap of draft picks will also be involved with us getting the better pick/s
Does his team of surgeons come with the deal?
Lycett's perennially on the injured list, iffy knees, iffy shoulders etc.

I didn't think Dangerfield or Tippett would leave either... so this time I'm certain he's going. That way I'll be pleasantly surprised if he stays and not so bitterly disappointed if he leaves. Logic there somewhere...
In fairness you strike me as a particularly naieve person. I knew both would leave and I think it was painfully obvious.

No to Matthew Allan, we don't need Forwards unproven at AFL level.

Tom Cole is not just a flanker, he played some really good footy in the midfield for the Pioneers, surprised if you reckon you lack mids he's not in the conversation, he's a nice size for a mid too.
Hasnt played any midfield since being recruited. He might eventually move into a midfield role but i think he will start out as a flanker. A bit Like Jacko Nelson i like the idea of him in the guts.

Tex has shown he is a massive big game player.
Semi final against freo at aami he not only dragged us back in to the game but also won it.
BOG in the elimination final against the dogs 2 years ago.
Kicked big goals in the final against hawks in 2012 prelim and in more recent times was close to BOG in the showdown this year. Loves the big stage and big moments.
JJ has had some good and poor finals. Did kick 5 in the losing semi against hawks.
Haven't noticed lynch in finals so fair point, but we could easily say that about most players when we play shocking in finals.
Yes but the more talent you have the harder it is for the opposition to shut you down. Gov is a scary good forward with his natural talents and leaping ability and he's a finisher like Tex.

We don't play two rucks so it's a no to Lycett. He's also just not that good

I get the same feeling about Lever and McGovern as I had with Danger and Tippett. I feel they will leave after this board will create 10,000 page long threads and we will watch their careers from afar.

Danger and Tippett didnt have very good poker faces. To me, most of the time players stall on contracts is because they have already decided they want to leave but it isnt right to announce their decision until seasons end.

We should get a 1st round pick for each. Doedee/Cheney/Otten can cover for Lever, Menzel/Beech/Greenwood/Otten can cover for McGovern. 2 First round picks plus our own first rounder, we should be able to get some real talent with those through trading.

Id be happy to play a lesser player in both defense and forward line in exchange for 2 players who will push MacKay out of the side and be an upgrade on Douglas who may well retire at the end of 2018.

If they both leave then the club may as well just give up as this would be an epic failure.

The club can only pick the best available players, which they have done an amazing job with considering Adelaide's recent history.

I dont care what anyone says, The AFC will always be starting from behind the pack when trying to get players to live in Adelaide.

Major qualifier this year is the delay in formalizing the new CBA, which is delaying re-signings at every club, so I don't think it's as clear cut as in years past.

I suspect we'll lose Gov and keep Lever. Don't think we'll lose both.

Yes and no

If gov left you would be disappointed he was a speculative pick that was shown a lot of faith by the coaching staff he wasn't ripping it up in the twos and if he didn't have the players around him like he does in that forward line how would he travel. However picking him was the right decision

Lever if he leaves may have been the wrong decision to draft him, should we seriously consider the best local talent at the top end of the draft

Milera good pick he won't be going home unless he leaves us to play for centrals, we picked Galluci the first SA kid picked after him was Hayward we had Doedee the first SA kid after him was burton

Should we be looking heavily into this and weighing up our options

I hate to look at the non SA players who have left who are currently playing in the AFL which were top end picks, danger, Davis, Gunston. Tippet was pick thirty something so he doesn't count

The only question is how much of a gap is there between the one we picked and the first SA kid available, the ironic thing is the SA kid actually looks better than the kid we picked on both occasions for the last two years

Adelaide was voted the 5th most livable city in the world. That argument is used by agents to get more for their client. Sick of hearing that shit.

I'm so sick of this lie that people don't want to live in Adelaide . We have loads of players that have stayed from other states but they get conveniently left out of these arguments. Danger would have gone home from anywhere. Nothing to do with Adelaide. Davis is an sa kid who moved for money . Gunston is one but what about Talia , Douglas, Sloane etc...
