McGovern reported

He didn't go to hospital because of that according to Woosha in his post game interview - went to hospital to have scans as a precautionary as the EFC wanted to make sure he will be ok to fly back tomorrow. Woosha said had the game been played in Melbourne then he wouldn't have even had to go to hospital and just would have been sent for scans the following day. Also the Essendon player did come back on and took further part in the game But then with the MRP anything can happen as it's Rafferty's rules!
As I said if he had no damage to the head then he will likely get off with a fine which is OK. The ribs and the chair issue will complicate things.

There has been 2 instances the same as this one this year . Both were fines .

Mcgovern pushes him initially inside the field of play when guilfi is disposing of the ball .

If the afl starts suspending players that bump across the line because of the fence hazard then the fence is too close .

Even better just pad the fences and get rid of the shit advertising ( this will never happen )

There is absolutely no evidence of a "second action".
So why do we differentiate between a hip and shoulder and a push? Because they are seperate actions. He started with a hip and shoulder and then went to a push. I understand your bias is preventing you from analysing the situation without bias. For that I can't do much. I don't have a vested interest in either team so I believe my ability to judge the situation is more likely to be correct than yours.

He hurt his ribs on the Security Guard's chair. This was a standard push a bloke over the line that happens multiple times a game. Only reason it is being talked about is because of the unfortunate injury.
He was already well over the line , the play was dead and he pushed him forcefully in the back into the fence - he was concussed by head into the fence .

Another issue - remember this from last year at Optus stadium...

Yer... well about that... I didn't see any protective covering or a permanent solution to prevent injures from players crashing into the fence there. This is a perfect example of talk without action - the AFL has some responsibility here.
They put clear coverings on all the fence signs after last years geelong game

Not according to some WC supporters... Lets wait for the medical report on any injury to the head.

If it was his head (it wasn't) he wouldn't have been able to come back on to the field (he did). These facts aren't hard to find.

I think you have made the assumption that because I am a West Coast supporter I would invariably want for McGovern to get off any charges.
I have no issues with the AFL handing down a one week suspension for McGovern's action.
However, I believe that the reason for the suspension should be on the basis that McGovern's push was unnecessary in the circumstances and overly excessive. And that McGovern had a duty of care to know his opponent's proximity to the fence (i.e. he was reckless/careless). Then the final determination is just the grading.

Your reason for wanting to suspend him do, in part, include aspects of recklessness, however, your chief arguments have been that:
(a) the act was not "in play"; and
(b) the push was a secondary action to a bump.
I do not think that any replays show that either (a) or (b) are remotely correct.
Of course, going by past precedents at the MRP/tribunal you may be as close as anyone as to what they might do.

Highly unlikely he gets injured if there wasn’t a bloke sitting on a chair inside the fence.

Perhaps the AFL itself is the culpable party, because take away the chair and we wouldn’t be talking about this.

Looks like a few posters have already read the medical report by some of these posts.

Pretty ordinary from McGovern but probably borderline a fine/1 week. The chair definitely contributed to the injury and I'm not sure if the players on field have duty of care to take into account a chair.

Nothing in it. Did we expect Guelfi to pull out if the kick because it was near the line? Of course not, so Mcgovern has no obligation to pull out of the bump. It started well within the field of play and was one action.
Will get withdrawn or we'll fight it at the tribunal no doubt citing McGovern's clean record.

As for Bellchambers. A fine. Might have blooded Shueys nose but not hard impact. The player who pushed with his boot might get a fine if it doesn't get thrown out.

Liam Ryan was very lucky his attempted hit just after he screwed a certain goal up (tried to kick around goal post) didn't make contact or he would be out for 4-8 depending on the injury to the Essendon player. Becoming a bit of a sniper
Yep that was incredibly dangerous. Went from almost kicking an easy goal, to almost kicking goal of the year to almost breaking a guys neck and needing a long holiday

Gov had to run around an Essendon player to make contact, he didn’t have a clean line to go at him.

I think the hawthorn player getting pushed into the fence, was worse, because he was running straight towards the fence. His momentum was going that way, Guelfi was running down the line.

Will be very stiff to get suspended, but am expecting it.

I think it's considered 'dangerous' when near the boundary line specifically because of the various objects that players can hurt themselves on.

A push like that in the field of play is a free kick, at worst. Who knows what he'll get.

Has no intention other than to ram him into the fence.

What a bitter loser you are. This was a football act in play.

The guy had the ball and hand balled up field. The pressure applied resulted in the handball going to an Eagles player instead of a Dons player.

Both players were running close to flat out.

Neither player can just instantaneously stop in mid air / mid stride as soon as the boundary line arrives. Especially a 196cm 100kg CHB.

The issue is not the act it is the chair and also the distance between the boundary line and the fence being inadequate.

If it gets a week when players are running around, jumping off the ground elbowing players in the head the football worlds gone crazy.

Here we are in round 14 and another laughable non incident getting played up as something it's not. There is one of these almost every week. Not even sure it's a free kick and here we are looking to suspend a player because the other player landed on a chair.
It gets more ridiculous by the week this crap. It was a small push, nothing more, nothing less.
If anyone should be reported it is the AFL for having a chair there.
