Col Sylvia would obviously be the best replacement for you guys but if he's not up for it then I would love to see Phil Read get a game. I really like his tenacity. Don't believe he's played a game yet this year but I wouldn't mind having the hardness of him and Pickett in the same line-up.

FFS, if I see Read getting a game while Sylvia is running around for Sandy, somebody will die (and it will most likely be me)

How can we possibly win this game without McLean, Moloney, Miller, Sylvia, Wheatley and quite possibly Whelan?
And why the hell is the AFL site STILL not showing the final teams? How hard is it to just delete a couple of names off the list!

*Edit: Well that's just ****ing wonderful, isn't it... http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/common/story_page/0,8033,19430912%5E19769,00.html
Read is in, McLean is out. Sylvia is in the squad of 25?? When does the team get finalised, or does that mean he's emergency and will replace Whelan on Monday morning? STUPID MIND GAMES!

Thats Horrible news for Demons fans i rate this guy alot alot of Melbournes hardness has been credited to Pickett but i reckon Mclean is as tough as they come.

Im very confident now and if Melbourne win it will be massive for their confidence over the next few weeks.

Go Pies !!!

Yep, Read is in and Col is emergency, hopefully they are going to bring read out as a late withdrawal (or Godfrey:thumbsu: ) for Col, cos im pretty sure they would get fined for putting Col straight in for Brock because he wasn't in the squad of 25. I dont think that they could do that so im hoping that they have just planned it that Read will not actually play, just saving themselves some money by claiming he is a late withdrawal

Read and Godfrey will both play.

Sylvia will only come in if Whelan pulls out, which the way things are going for us at the moment, would be quite likely. :(

God help us all. I just can't see us beating them without a quarter of our side (especially given the quality of their replacements... you know, Read, Holland and so on  )

When speaking of quality replacements, i can't help but think......Godfrey

He is better than Read though.

At least Godfrey is super disciplined, whereas Read is just a hot-head who can't get a kick without knocking someone off in the process.
He will just give away stupid free kicks, and I hope that if he is going to do something stupid, that he at least makes it count.

Read for McLean is almost as bad as Bruce for Grgic. :thumbsd:

I don't like the chances of Sylvia playing cos if he plays, then obviously another midfielder has gone down and unless it's Godfrey or Read...Uh oh.

I agree, weve got far to many important players out for such a big game. If we win on Monday Id be very suprised.

The way some of you are acting it is as if Neitz, Robertson, Yze, Davey, Rivers and Carroll were all out.
I know how good Brock is, but our midfield is a lot better than we have to rely on a 20 year old. We still have a better midfield than they do atm, but I have a feeling Buckley will be in the middle a lot in this game.
I'm not as confident as I was, but still think we'll win.

You've got a point dm, but he is a massive part of our midfield. Choppy should run through the middle for most of the game tomorrow, we need his grit.

Sylvia will not play tomorrow as he is playing for Sandy today, has kicked 3 goals so far.

426 has kicked 4, what a gun! Newton has a couple as well. Sandy up by 17 points at about the 23 minute mark of the last quarter.

Haven't heard Ward's name mentioned on the radio broadcast at all (www.3ser.org.au) so he could be the one to come in for Whelan tomorrow.

geez, you guys under rate Read far too much.

He is a very good player, just injured alot. If he can string a couple of games together without injury, he is very handy. Skills are better than what he's shown so far. How did he go btw? Or did he pull out injured?

Always thought this kid has talent when he was with the eagles. Wanted him at port. yes, can be a bit hot headed at times, but goes in hard, and never gives up. Very under rated.

It was a fluke. At his best, he is two levels above Heffernan, and half a level below Godfrey (although he has better disposal).

Watch him lose it this week. Thank god Sylvia is back with some class. Our midfield on Monday looked horrible, with Godfrey and Read but no McLean, Moloney or Sylvia. Goes to show you how average Collingwood's midfield really is ;)

Read is better than Godrey. I don't mind him in the side, though he would struggle to get in if our best 22 is fit.
