"I look like who?"

the only thing he proved is that plenty around here have nfi,not saying you but just saying.
the sht thats flown around here and the abuse at anyone who dare express an opinion is disgusting.
hes gone 2012 its all over

You've told us all this in about 4 different threads now , you've sunk the boots in to mclean at every chance and repeated your dribble through out. :thumbsd:

Theirs a constructive way of expressing an opinion within a discussion, and theirs a destructive way of expressing that opinion....you have done the latter.

* What i find disgusting is a so called supporter constantly bagging, putting players down and abusing others for not thinking the same.....but that's just me:o

yep he didn't perform well enough to keep his spot and yep he may well have done his dash and therefore been a waste of a high draft pick but...

some of the I-told-you-so crap on here sounds a bit too much like gloating to me. Leave that to the haters out there, its damn unseemly from supporters.

gloat gloat gloat

At the moment he isn't looking too good, i barely noticed him last game. In comparison to curnow's involvment in games, brocks was non-existent, it's a given that Ed takes his spot back in the team.

Brock certainly has a body that would stand up in finals, so it is negligent to write him off this early.

Yep that's a good one:rolleyes:

I could retaliate, i trade an insult, you trade an insult.....what then???

Its just gonna end up in one of your deep and meaningfuls:thumbsu:

I think youll find if you express criticism constructively you wont get the hostility you've been greeted with.

A few pages back I had some negative things to say about Brock, and you'll note I wasnt harrassed or similar.

Posting "hes shit.hes gone.its all over" doesnt provide any insight into any of his weaknesses or areas he needs to address. It is also a shit read.

It doesnt add any value to this forum. In fact it detracts from it.

Remember, Brock is a Carlton player, and this is a Carlton fan forum. Posting barely literate abuse directed at McLean is pretty much guaranteed to get you a bad response.

It doesnt make you much better than an opoosition troll.

A lot of players have been written off as spuds (Jordan Russell, Chris Yarran, Josh Kennedy... even Fevola in his early years) and come back to bite more than a few people in the ass. For JR it was a confidence thing, for Yarran, people expecting too much of a kid, and demonstrating Rich envy. JK got a lot of flack and is making more than a few look like gooses over at WCE, and Fev just had to find his kicking boots, and pull his finger out.

From the tone of your posts, its almost like you want Brock to fail. I know (or at least hope) this isnt the case, but take it on board and perhaps tone some of the vitriol directed at Mclean down a notch.

Is that all you got from my post?

Sad.

Im not telling you anything, simply making a suggestion that you frame your criticism differently.

Again, see my post critiquing Brock a few pages back. You can post a criticism of a player to your hearts content, but just please do so in an articulate and constructive manner.

Beyond basic manners, it just makes for a shit read, and doesnt contribute anything of value to the forum.

In other words, you are detracting from the readability, value and enjoyment of this forum for others. You might not care about the fact that your posts detract from and ruin the value of this forum for other people, but you probably wont last very long around here with that attitude.

Its a little like me going to a public gathering of Christians and screaming 'God is shit' over and over and over again. A little selfish (and counter productive) wouldnt you agree?

Come on GS, not every poster here is out to get you. There are some quality posters . You need to pick your battles. Malifice is a quality poster and his words of advice are both measured and respectful. Save your ammo for 40 year fool who likes taking potshots at newbies from the comforts of his keyboard.

OK back on topic. I was reading that brock is comfortable with the inclusion of Curnow due to his availability. He knows where he's at and the things he has to work on to force his way back in to the team. Obviously he has a huge challenge ahead, but good luck to the man and if he is good enough, it will only benefit the team providing it's not just as support to cover for injury.

It's called advice and it is free.

You can feel free to ignore it and continue to get abused and the like for your vitriolic attacks on players who wear the ODN. Or you can take it on board, learn from it and learn to use constructive criticism about the players. You can use constructive criticism to highlight flaws and failings you perceive about said player rather than coming out with comments like "he is slow and crap and doesnt deserve to be on our list".

If someone like you was on our recruiting board, you probably would have delisted Bower, Russell and Kennedy back in 2005/06 because they were crap and slow and just werent in touch with the game. Considering that they were only given very limited game time by Pagan and when I say limited, they would play, make a mistake and get dragged and sat on the bench for the rest of the night... it's amazing what happened when they were given an extended run in the side without having to worry about being benched for making a mistake. Confidence is a wonderful thing and in the past it has cost us a couple of talented youngsters because they were either overplayed or they were not allowed to develop their confidence.

All you seem to do is abuse and come out with the self-indignant self-righteous claptrap to back up your argument. Then you come out with the 'yes men' comments as if people sticking up for the club and players against someone who is just indiscriminately tries to make points.

But thats just my opinion about things... and like arseholes, everyone seems to have one.

Back on topic... really feel for Mclean and hope he can get a second bite in the coming weeks.

TBH, it doesnt look good at all even if he did only get only 2 games. Just crossing my fingers for him now more than anything else!

Keep thinking of Sammy Mitchell and how slow he is. Just think Brock doesnt have his creativity maybe. Will be very interesting to see his mindset now that he knows where he currently stands. Really screwed Thornton last year, let's see how Brock goes about it.

My opinion is Brock has become a victim of depth.
Curnow was probably a slight gamble at the draft table and has come on in spades. If he and Ellard hadnt stepped up then chances are Brock would be one of the first picked.
Its a pretty good position the club has itself in on selection nights.
It will be testament to Brock if he can turn himself around and get ahead of the two players in front of him at selection. We also have players in the Ants hot on his heals like Cachia etc.
Heck, remember when our depth consisted of Digby Morrell, Callum Chambers, Troy Longmuir et al.
I like what is going on at the moment. Pressure creates diamonds

Well said Knackers.

Our depth now means that when positions open up through injury etc we can pick the next best rather than the least worst.:thumbsu:

What everyone also needs to remember with players like Curnow is that sometimes they can come in, put it all on the line in their first season because it can potentially be their only season - their one shot.

This mindset of last chance makes their season and can sometimes make them look better than their year-in year-out form. Once they make their mark they can slow down in their second season thinking they have made the grade. Happens all the time with first year rookies who play on edge in their first year but cant garner the same mindset in their second year.

So probably Curnow will be a good player every year, but in the event that he doesnt keep killing it, we have Mclean just 1) waiting to pounce which is a good thing, and 2) keeping curnow focused for a longer period based on holding his spot in the team.

The only downside to this is Mclean is a very expensive mind game for Curnow lol.

Will also be interested to see how Laidler and Duigan go next year after making a name for themselves. Will one of them drop off.

BTW
I dont know the contract status of any of the players but a blind guess would be that Scotland is coming up for contract renewal this year. His form and attitude have been impeccable!

Bloody well said that man.

Curnow was brought in as cover for McLean and the club wouldnt have expected him to come into the side at the start of the season with Brock out.

He was made the nominated rookie for this year and in his first few games has far exceeded everyones expectations. You just have to love it when something completely left field in the draft comes off.

Brock will make his way back into the side towards the end of the year. They are still working on getting him completely injury free and are addressing small issues now.
