McLeod retiring???

Thankyou for everything Andrew McLeod. The AFC will not be the same without you.
Congratulations on an outstanding career.

My favourite player by a long way. Number 23 will always have a aura around it much like Jordan at the Bulls - another champ of his chosen sport. Macca has the runs on the board to be ranked as our best ever player and should have a Brownlow as well...but thats water under the bridge.

Saturday's game is going to be a very sad affair, but if we don't get 49,000 + there all AFC suppporters should hang their heads. Need to show other SA clubs how you farewell legends of the club.

I hope he makes a comeback in two years like MJ did. And wins another 2 Norm Smiths.

Congratulations Macca a brilliant career. Legend of the game and a champion of the afc. Will be missed by all crow supporters.

Farewell to a legend

I've heard of a lot of retirement announcements before, but nothing that has felt like this. It really does feel like someone has died.

I'm not ashamed to say that Macca has been my hero for a decade now. This is a very sad day.

Re: McLeod retiring

Gutted.. an absolute champion, the best player to have played for the AFC. You will be greatly missed Macca and i'll never forget.

oh, just so you guys are aware, don't go onto bay 13, seriously deluded individuals that think that macca was a hack...
You mean the Port supporter who can't spell his own name correctly?:o

Well said. My sentiments exactly. :thumbsu:

Has always been my favourite Crow because of his brilliance and sheer natural talent.

Should be retiring with the Brownlow around his neck that Akermanis won. Robbed by the maggots. :thumbsd:

Thanks for the memories Macca. You've been a legend of the game!! :thumbsu:

Well done Macca on a fantastic career and service to the AFC.

You are an absolute champion of the game and a credit to yourself, your family and your people.

I truely hope your quality of life is not impacted by your knee injuries. Ever since I had my own knee recon and got told to give away running and jumping sports (complications), I've been in awe of your ability to play on those shot knees. If not for them you probably could have played on like a Bradley. Time again you've pushed through the pain barrier for us and delivered outstanding quality football. The '98 GF probably a highlight in that regard.

Thanks for the memories and thanks for the flags!

.....interesting that he chose today to announce it

Its probably going to give journos country-wide time to speak volumes on how respected he is. So thats a good thing:thumbsu:

They'll all bow down when he's inducted into the Hall Of Fame.
Champion player of the highest order who was robbed of a Brownlow Medal and THE GREATEST indigenous player of all time.

Thanks for the sheer brilliance in those key finals and the game winning checkside against the Pies at the Dome to spoil Lou Richards that night:D

Goodluck with the future Bunji.

No farewell game .... a shameful way to end his career.

But how often to players get to 340 games in the big league .... not very often.

Macca you are the best and will always be the best!

Farewell, Bunji. You will be sadly missed. You have made the number 23 jumper special.

Ever since you started at the club you have stood out as an exceptional person and player. Your trademark gliding run, the finger twirl to celebrate the goals, the incredible delivery into the hands of marking forwards - it will all be missed.

You deserved your B&Fs [our youngest ever in 1997, 2001, and our oldest ever in 2007], your AAs, your premiership medals and your Norm Smiths. You deserved to win the 2001 Brownlow that you were runner-up in, but we won't dwell on that. You captained the All-Stars, and the Australian International Rules team, and were a real leader at our club. We have admired your courage in overcoming injury and adversity.

Thanks for all the joy you have brought to Football followers, Crows supporters, my family and me; we wish you and your family all the best for the future.

Congratulations to Andrew McLeod on an outstanding career & a very sad day for the AFC.

He has been a player I have enjoyed watching over the past 15 years & one of my fav players outside of my beloved Blues.

340 1st class games :thumbsu:

An absolute legend of the AFC & one of AFL's greats.

Will be sadly missed from our great game.

All the best guys for Rnd 22.

Hope you beat those Saints for Andrew :thumbsu:

He's won the Norm Smith Medal more often than he's backchatted an umpire or questioned an umpire's decision. He's a great champion but as is often overlooked he is possibly the fairest player to ever play the game.

Thanks Andrew.

Loved watching you Macca. One of the best players (top 5) the crows ever had. Jarman, Modra, Rhen and Reccuito...welcome to the top of the class :)

legend.

there's no other word for him.

Congrats to McLeod on a fine career. At his best he was majestic to watch.

Congratsulations Andrew on a brilliant career.
I guess none of us will ever forget the last game Goody and Macca played in.

Will be interesting what Macca decides to do next. I think a career in the media would be his best option as I don't think coaching would be up his alley.
