McLeod retiring???

Brilliant career Macca, i think alot of people forget how unstoppable he was in the early 2000s. His electric pace, made him near impossible to tag and should have had a brownlow to show for it

To Gerard Neesham.

Thankyou. Thankyou. Thankyou.

You have probably contributed more to the success of the AFC by your decision than any other factor in the history of the Crows.

Not only did you do us a great service by excepting the most incredible trade in AFL history but I would hope and believe that Andrew would feel the same way.

Your decision blessed the Adelaide Football Club with one of the all time most naturally gifted footballers.
Unfortunately the quality of his knees did not match the quality of the man so in the last few seasons Bunji has had to play with restriction, but even then he was one of the most feared in our playing squad.

But as they say, All good things...

So where ever you are Gerard please except my heartfelt thanks on behalf of myself and my family for providing to our humble club one of our greatest and most loved sons.

Career all the more amazing with his knee injuries and what he did through the pain. An absolute pleasure to watch, and one of the greatest to ever grace the sport. Suspended once in 340 games, should be proud of that as well.

Legend. The only word that can describe him without disrespect.:thumbsu: I'm gonna be tearing up on Saturday.:(

Absolute champion, well done on a brilliant career. I can still remember him carving us up in the 97 Grand Final- it brought tears to my eyes.

Some players just can't be replaced.. This champ is one of them.. Others come and go but there's a select few that can make people feel so strongly or have such an impact when they decide they're not going to be out there running around anymore..

Thank you for all you have done Macca, the premierships memories will always have you up near the front of them.. Now though is a very sad time, will never be quite the same.. Saturday will be tough no doubt :(

First memories that come to mind are that goal vs the pies to win the game at Etihad and when he barrelled over Robert Harvey in the 97 GF near the centre to centre half forward area when we were starting to turn the G into a cauldron :)

Oh yes, and i'm first in line for the McLeod dvd.. Imagine the highlights on that

I posted this on Bay 13 to shut the flogs up. Won't work, but it's such a long list!

Greatest player ever to play for Adelaide, and one of the greatest ever in footy. Will be sadly missed.

What a player. What a legend.

The best of this year's retirees, and that's saying something.

My favourite player by a long way. Number 23 will always have a aura around it much like Jordan at the Bulls - another champ of his chosen sport. Macca has the runs on the board to be ranked as our best ever player and should have a Brownlow as well...but thats water under the bridge.

Saturday's game is going to be a very sad affair, but if we don't get 49,000 + there all AFC suppporters should hang their heads. Need to show other SA clubs how you farewell legends of the club.

If i see a spare seat I will be gutted! Full house is a must and that includes ALL the members!

I can finish it off for you:D

Absolute champion, probably my favourite player outside of Essendon and one man who I can honestly say I hope the absolute best for.

Good luck Andrew.

I'll miss the annual preseason piccie in the Tiser showing how fit and ready he is for the upcoming season. Seriously tho, champion player and I wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

One of the great midfielders of the modern era. Right up there with Voss, Buckley, Hird etc.

Just loved the way he'd glide across the turf - even when he put the afterburners on and left a trail of players behind him he looked like he was still in second gear. And just a sweet, sweet kick - just stroked the ball beautifully.

Sorry for the intrusion but...

What an awesome career Andrew McLeod has had - one of my favourite players outside of the Western Bulldogs, an absolute champion of the game. I read his book and I have nothing but more admiration for him if that's possible.

Good luck for the future Andrew! :thumbsu:
