Sad day, Goodwin was a shock but he wasn't like Andrew McLeod, this feels like someone had died.

I'm speechless, thanks Bunge.

It's a minor miracle he's even survived as long as he has. Glad he finishes his career as a one-club player. :thumbsu:

It's official:

Andrew McLeod retires
2:40 PM Mon 23 August, 2010

Adelaide club games record holder Andrew McLeod today announced his retirement from the AFL.

McLeod, 34, made the decision not to make himself available for a “farewell game” at Saturday’s last minor round game against St Kilda at AAMI Stadium.

“I’m not confident that my knee is up to playing this week, let along get through the game,” three-time club champion McLeod said. “I haven’t been able to train properly for a long time. A new era has also started at the Club and I don’t want to stop a younger player from playing on Saturday.”

Official: McLeod to retire

Per AFC twitter account: McLeod has just told the players that he has played his last game. Press conference at 3.30pm.

What an absolute superstar he's been :thumbsu: Just think how different out history might look if he'd never been traded to our club. Thanks so much for all the wonderful memories Bunj :thumbsu:

He'll always been held in the same regard as the likes of Ricciuto, Rehn, etc. The absolute top echelon of the elite of the Adelaide Crows, and in the elite of the whole AFL competition.

I guess we need to thank Port Adelaide fans Allen and Mavis Duffield for identifying Andrew to Bill Sanders.

So thanks Port Adelaide - you gave us our best player ever.

It has been a rare privelege to see this man play.

In my humble opinion the greatest ever Crow.

I will never forget the runs down the g, the bob and weave, the wonderful grace and the magnificant goals this great man kicked.

He always played well in the big games.

He was worth the admission price alone.

Saturday will be a terribly sad day for me, the supporters and the staff.

Thanks Andrew for the memories and the two premierships you helped to bring home.

i will never forget your brilliance.

Will certainly be an emotional day on Saturday. McLeod is my all time favourite Crow. I have a tear in my eye now. Let's give the boys a great send off Saturday.

Absolute poetry in motion, so happy he played for the Crows. Wish the show could go on, but time to give the knees a rest and enjoy the accolades. Cheers.

Today is the end of an era at the club. I beleive he was the last premiership player from 97-98 to be playing

Thanks Bunji for the incredible memories I have had from you over the past 15 years. :(

Congrats to Bunji on an outstanding career. It's now officially the end of an era. I'm gonna miss him and the rest of our retiring greats.

Andrew Mcleod, my all time favourite Adelaide player by a long long way, not just for your ability on the field but your character of the field also, dual premiership Player Dual Norm Smith medallist and a superstar AFL player, knew this day would come, but thought maybe you could push on for one more year:( very saddened, but the way you played, your brilliance will never ever be forgotten, I wish you the best for whatever you choose to do, enjoy retirement and thanks for the memories
