McLeod has been voted out of the crows leadership group by the rest of the players, (I was going to say team mates, but I don't think they are his mates at all) but Tyson Edwards stays in.

Looks like the McLeod v Hewitt/Edwards cat fight has taken its first victim.

He's more than welcome down at punt road.:o

a very sensible way to begin the transition to a younger leadership group over the next few years.....:thumbsu:

I am sure the AFC will manage the transformation of our list in terms of management of our older players a bit more unselfishly and seamlessly than some some clubs have recently.

Brett Burton was voted out of the leadership group at the beginning of 2006 and had one of his most productive and influencial years to date.

Full marks to the Club once again for not stagnating like some on this issue ....:thumbsu:

So what catfight caused Cornes to be kicked out? Especially considering he was considered a future captain of the club. Was he a bit too professional for your lot?

Why did RUTTEN get kicked out of the leadership group?

The title if this thread is an interesting way to look at it.

oh - another thread about AFC started by a PAPs supporters

I was was not surprised one bit, I only expected it to be Toot who started it.

Why did RUTTEN get kicked out of the leadership group?

Jason Torney was voted out by the playing group as well, so it’s just a down sizing of the leadership group.

In season 2007 the AFC will only have 5 senior player in the leadership group rather than that having 8.

Not trolling here! I just found it very surprising that RUTTEN was voted out of the leadership group, appeared as the AFC were/are grooming him for a larger leadership role in the future and he carries himself very well on/off the field and speaks well with the media.

players are the club and have more of a say on these matters than the CEO, or even the Coach....we're inclusive - not autocratic

I thought supporters were the club. How did your clubs AGM go this year? Vote in any new board members? Oh that's right, you can't.

Inclusive, my arse.

Yep.

I'm always wary of the rotating leadership group system. I mean really, what's the point? Some men are born leaders, others aren't. With Hart gone Rutten is arguably (Bassett) our best defender - and as such will effectively be leading the back six. Why would he not be in the leadership group?

Hopefully we don't go down the track of St. Kilda with their musical chairs system.

Identify your best leaders, entrust them to lead. Don't start a perpetual motion revolving door just because a high draft pick has a good year.

I wonder is Chris McDermott will talk up the crisis at AAMI Stadium with Rutten ommitted the same way he was talking up the Kane Cornes "saga" as a sign of a club in crisis.

Posters on BF are really just out for a bit, however McDermott is supposed to be paid to put provide credible comment.

So Brett Burton was voted out of the leadership group in season 2006 but was given the green light by his peers to come back in for 2007, Ben Rutten must have a few areas of his leadership he needs to work on.

Rather than tell him he need to work on this area and still empower him with the reasonability of a position with in the leadership group; they have told him this is the area you need to improve and until that is fixed your leadership aspirations will not be considered at this club, once he has shown that he will be voted back into the leadership group in the future.

That photo has been used so much, it is almost a photo cliché

True.

But in the context of the post I was responding to it seemed 100% appropriate.

The Crows have a problem .... the fans are WAAY too reluctant to acknowledge the bleeding obvious.... just like the guy in the photo.

I couldnt find a bloke with his head in the sand ... or perhaps one with his head up his arse would have more approriately described your club at present?

If I had a nutshell - this comment would be in it.

That's exactly what I thought when I heard about Kane Cornes. Leads by example on the field, but obviously want him to do more to help develop some of the youngsters.
