McMahons game

He is best when given a bit of freedom across half back something he found time and time again on the vast expanses of Subiaco.

He was excellent yesterday but as some have said his one out defending certainly isn't a strong point however if he can keep attacking the way he did yesterday then he will be a great player for the club.

He was chosen to provide you with some polished foot skills off half back - for some reason he lost this skill completely in the 2nd half of last season but before that was genrally very tidy with his foot skills. Pick 19 might be overs but I understand the rationale behind selecting him.

McMahon isn't a bad player, and whilst i wasn't devastated to have lost him, I wasn't exactly happy to hear about it either.

He's good running out of defence, a bit like a lesser Gilbee. Good footskills, good run, can create attacking plays, but unlike Gilbee he isn't a great defender. McMahon has been caught out in the past on forwards who can take an overhead mark, as this is his real weakness. He's also not very physical, but in a team that needs a player that provides his sort of run, this can be forgiven.

His attacking abilities though generally make up for this provided he isn't under siege in defence. He can be very damaging running off half-back, and can also kick goals. He should end up being a good recruit for you guys.

Jordan has been a great player this year averaging 25 possessions at an elite skill level.

Richmond's specialised psychologists must have smoothed out the mental problems he admitted to having last year :thumbsu:

Even when we were losing the last 2 weeks I thought he was one of our best players, especially early when the games were up for grabs. Not everyone agrees with me though, a lot of Tiger fans are still angry at the price we paid for him.

Bookmark this post. Callan Ward remember that name :rolleyes

We would have taken Scott Selwood (our recruiters confirmed this before the draft).

I'm suprised no-ones mentioned this fellas game , has attracted an unusual amount of critisism for someone that's been averaging more than 25 possies a game in yellow and black...Is quick, rarely gets caught and generally uses the pill well...I like the boy, if a few of the youngsters can do the same , we're well on the way with getting on top of this run and carry game :thumbsu:

Who did he play on again? Oh that's right! No one!

Doesn't mean shit. He still looks like an idiot when it's 1 on 1 footy.

yeah he does, but thats about 1 or two times a game dip stick. Who gives a shit, when the other 28 times he doesnt. FFS, wake the ____ up and get with the program, its the modern game, players like Jordy are an integral part of a team. ;)

Granted, his 1 on 1 game leaves a bit to be desired but apart from his 'cheap' possessions, I thought on sunday his work around packs was a lot better and he attempted to put pressure on his opponents a lot more. Plus he has a sick moustache.

When Matthew Lappin beats him for strength in marking contests you know your in trouble

naaa fool, you know you are in real trouble when your coach has him in that type of position where he has to contest in marking contests.
He is and always will be an out and out running ball carrier.
Its not his fault sprocket didnt have a brain. The swans players worked that one out, now you will eventually. ;)

Jordy has played really well the last 2 weeks for us i really liked the steps he took Vs. Collingwood and then yesterday he was very very good taking on players and hitting forwards on the ___ with Inside 50's

BTW dude. How many finals campaigns has rocket taken you to? ;)

1 more than Wallace has taken you to under his 15 year plan :D:D:D:D

Make it 2 this year for Rocket and 0 for Leatherskin:D

True, the stache alone is probably worth the recruitment :D I'm pretty sure we're mo-less now :(

When a finals game gets played in the 'modern style' give me a call.

Good player/ contributer when the team is traveling well but is hard to look at when the Team is losing.

He is a confidence player and will play alot more bad games then good.

Actually Eade ressurected his career by playing him in defence. Wallace gave him a few games now and then on the wing, but by and large didnt play him at all.

And its a strange defender that isnt involved in marking contests. Any goto man worth his salt is going to find his opponent trying to drag him away from the play and isolate him close to goal.

McMahon always looked like he was going to be a player, but suffers from a serious lack of footy intelligence
.
That would be a more apt description of you, fellas that can run like carl lewis and drop punt onto a 5c piece and rarely get caught lack smarts...err, gimmee a break einstein:eek:

I see Jordy in a similar mould to Nathan Eagleton, both very much outside midfield types, both go missing when the chips are down, but both rise to the occasion when the team is on a roll, even though Eagleton has a bigger body, but both can also slot a goal on the run from 50, can be very dangerous.

Eagle is a better tackler than Jordy, although i still remember when Jordy tackled Richo that game for a dropping the ball. :thumbsu:

But the Dogs had too many of these types, thus the reason why he was on the outer.

For that poster that said Kelvin Templeton left the club, he actually left the club with good intentions, his knee's were shot, was never the same player at Melbourne, quite a few of the other players that left were to save the club, quite simply, we couldn't survive without letting them go, we had to sell them off - was documented in the Fightback '89 special on Fox Footy a few years back.

McMahons actually not played a bad game this year. Has been very good for us and skill in hitting targets has gotten better every week.

People downing him because "he isnt a man to go to when the chips are down" must be delusional. Jordy will never be a strongarm or defensive key position player. He will always be a speedster who recieves the uncontested ball and carries it from half back delivering to forwards. Thats why he was recruited.

If people are going to dish out the name calling (dirty sanchez, sanchez, moman, skinny girl, 12 year old boy etc) at least have to fortitude to give him his props when he does well.

man from what we have been used to for the last how long? Its like chalk and cheese watching Jordy running the lines and knowing where the ____ he is running.
Quality ball carrier that would have had most teams checking out swap deals for him. Come on now, from what we have been used to? Give me a ____ing break..

Not bagging you dude, just the other muppets here who think players like Jordy just grow on trees...and fall in your lap..;)

We all know jordy isnt going to be a judd or a mcleod, as long as he performs how he has so far we have gotten a more than serviceable deal i reckon :thumbsu:
