I have now read and heard he was a hamstring injury, and out for maybe 2 weeks. I find this highly sus if you ask me,the way he landed on the weekend was the result of the injury and i am buggerd if i can tell how he hurt his hammy doing it.

Surely it has to be his knee?
Maybe they are covering it up because it's serious. But after he landed he got up and took a few steps. I reckon he is still a good chance this week, but now that i have said this he will have probably done his knee, but i highly doubt it ;)

If you have followed McPharlin closely you'd realise he could do his hammy picking up the morning paper from the front lawn.

I doubt he's done his knee. During the Geelong match i remember seeing schofield stretching his hammys. He was so flexible he was almost kissing his ass. McPharlin is the opposite. His hammy's are extremely tight and therefore prone to strains and tears.

It's also got to do with his unusual jumping style. Most players jump with a flexed leg (bent). When he's soaring through the air he often has a locked knee. Most unusual, and something that may cause him a knee injury later in his career.

But fremantle have been excellent at managing his soft tissue injuries, he left Hawthorn because he was injured 80% of the time and not happy with their training regime. (refer Hawthorn supporters - Mummy's boy).

But if he'd done a knee i don't think he would of walked off the field like he did. But Hammy's have a habit of taking longer to heal than expected. So he maybe out for longer than 2 weeks.

On the plus side it will give Murphy a real chance to shine. If he starts at FF against Mal Micheal he'll probably get a bath. I think they'll plonk one of our ruckman at FF and play him from the pocket.

Ogre vs. Man Mountain. Sounds like a wrestling match.

It looks like the split round might come at a perfect time for us. We play Brisbane this week, Sydney away round 12 and kangaroos at home round 13 before a week off. With McPharlin, Matt Carr, Walker, Hayden and Dunn injured, if we win atleast 2 of the next 3, we could come back after the break full of confidence and close to full strength. The week off would also be helpful to Schofield, Bell, Hasleby, Schammer, Browne and Polak who have all either missed games or played with injuries in recent weeks, and I'm sure Pav could do with a rest.

That would be unbelieavably good news. Murphy wouldn't have such a hard task then. Especially if Sandilands and Longmuir occasionally appear in the forward line.

Our 3 talls would cause Brisbane enormous headaches. Murphy, Pavlich and Sandilands/Longmuir. Also Medhurst seems to have a day out against the Lions.

I hope we win. But you can't pencil any game in at the moment.

Not according to the official site.

Reckon Lappin is near certainty to return and Chris Scott too.
If those two play, then the Lions will have 7 200 game players out there (unless Pike gets dropped), plus another 7 above or near 100 (Brown is on 97). Yes they have some kids, but they still have a heap of experience.
Assuming that Headland returns, we'll have 12 centurions out there, with Farmer (190), Parker (194), Schofield (196) and Bell (220) our most experienced.

Lets hope CC shows the team the Lions GF victories in 01-03 and the Rd 1 win over the Saints rather than anything more recent!

From what I've seen from the news up here in Sunny ol (but still bloody cold) Queensland, the Lions won't risk Lappin or Michael with a trip to Perth incase they do more damage. They are definately injured and if the Lions didn't need to win to stay in the season they'd have the week off so even if they do play they'll be at 60-80%.

So Brisbane could be without: Lappin, Michael, Power and Charman.

Still a danger game as I've mentioned as I highly rate Daniel Merret, he's bigger and stronger than Brown and really knows how to take a pack mark. Could be a close one.

Brennan also might play but once again whether or not they'll risk him on the flight over or not is a different question.

Other than that I haven't heard anything else. I'll keep you informed when I hear something!

If Michael plays, Connolly might use Medhurst at FF because Mal has trouble with smaller, quicker forwards - Mark Williams has played well against him a couple of times. Also, he did kick 9 against them last year. Wouldn't mind seeing Polak get another go forward but u may need him against Brown.

I would really dislike Polak going forward. I think we have enough tall forward options. Pavlich and McPharlin are excellent KP forwards. Murphy is a young gun who is learning the trade in the WAFL. An exciting future KP forward.

Longmuir has shown he is capable in the forward line and Sandilands on the weekend was great. If both of them continue to improve they will greatly benefit the forward line while resting from the ruck. Having 5 able tall forwards is excellent for fremantle's future.

Shifting Polak from CHB is a mistake as he excels when played there.

Could always replace McPharlin with Kiwi Campbell. His form hasn't been great, but we've seen a few shock WAFL -> AFL selections come off at AFL level.

Brennan wont play after reaggrevating his injury, another 2 weeks for him! Would love to see him in purple!

Murphy is clearly streaks ahead of Campbell. Campbell recently get dropped to reserves.

So anyone have any news on how Spud is doing in the WAFL?? Has he earned a spot in the side?

A few games in the forward line while McPharlin is out could be really good for him. Let's hope he takes this chance to impress!

Spud plays for Perth doesn't he? His team got spanked by 20 goals last week, difficult to tell his form. The paper reported it wasn't great.

Murphy is a Souths boy. Only kicked 3 in their spanking of Peel. Has kicked either 2 or 3 in his last 4 games for South.
Campbell kicked 4 vs East Perth back at the beginning of April, but only 1 or 2 since until none vs South 2 weeks ago then dropped/injured the next week, and WP had the bye this week. 11 goals from 8 games for Campbell vs 10 goals from 4 games for Murph.

Just found the detailed stats.
Murphy: 10k, 1HB (good forward!), 7 m, 3 HO, 2 In50, 3goals 2 behinds.
Siegert: 6k, 3hb, 2m, 1 HO, 2 In50
Gilmore: 20k, 7 hb, 8m, 6 In50, 1 behind
Duffield: 14k, 5hb, 4m
Must remember that South won 25.21 175 to 5.5 35!

Other teams:
Headland: 21k, 11hb, 13m, 10 in50, 4 goals 5 behinds
(The Wiggles Wooden got 41 touches!)
Stribling: 13k, 14hb, 3m, 4 In50, 1 behind
Peake: 9k, 9hb, 2m, 3 In50
Schammer: 23k, 16hb, 6m, 3 In50
Browne: 15k, 5hb, 5m, 6 In50
Webster: 12k, 10hb, 7m, 3In50 1 goal 1 behind
Copping (EP Reserves):7k, 3hb, 5m, 4 goals 1 behind
I think thats all that they have (no sign of Peel's stats, not sure if anyone got a kick for them).

Just back the McPharlin front, what sort of record do we have without the big man playing? When he did his collarbone last year, i think we lost 6/7 while he wasn't there, and now we've lost another.

All you really all surprised that Medicare McPharlin is injured again? As soon as Connolly moved him forward I smiled because I knew he wouldn't see out the month before getting injured again.

I know I shouldn't feed the trolls, but I guess you're just lucky that you've been able to get by without SGIO's health insurance posterboy McDoneStuffall.

Since we've fixed McPharlin's OP issues (which he got at Hawthorn, not here) he played the last 11 games in 2002, missed the first 11 in 2003 when he did his hammy after growing 3 cms over summer, then played the rest of 2003 and first 15 games in 2004 before having his shoulder broken. Not quite a recurring soft-tissue type of injury. He came back in rd 22, then played every game this year.

Compare that to McDougall, who only played 2 games in 2002, also missed the first 11 in 2003 and delayed his shoulder injury to this year Rd 1! I'd back him in to do a hammy in about rd 17!
