I am torn about this. I want A Pearce to get time in the forward line, and I want McPharlin to have a rest.

Based on training reports Johnson is cherry ripe so he should be fine, but if there is doubt I would play T Smith.

Smith is playing reasonable footy for Peel but he regularly goes missing for a quarter and the coach has to kick him up the bum to get him back on track.
Too often he looses contact with his opponent .Alex Pearce will have to go back and Taberner will be back in the team unless it is extremely wet on Sunday. Duffy would be a better option forward IMHO . He is playing very good footy for Peel and has an X factor in wet weather football.

Yeah plus he is on the rookie list.

Not saying he is ready, just saying I want A Pearce to gain experience playing forward as he is currently in our best forward line while we have multiple players who will play back in finals.

Stupid Dawson

Thought I read on here that Tanner was upgraded. Ross mentioned Tanner the other day. Wasn't glowing but said something like "he was an option as well."

I would be surprised if McPharlin plays this week and not opposed to give Tanner a go. He might get a bath but he might not either. No better way to test him out than against a dominant attacking team.

Don't forget Johnson should be playing this week so he can replace McPharlin.

RTB on 6PR last night confirmed Macca is a cork - often since it was iced straight away it probably means he could play this week, at worst he should be available for North. If he plays this week then MJ can get a run for Peel and ready to go next week.

Agree with EShed here, selection NEXT week for defenders will be tough but I would have to go with Pearce forward, McPharlin, Johnson and Silvagni back as the first choice along with Spurr, Sutty, Ibbo. Dawson misses out for stupidity and lack of attacking flair versus these guys. Then get those back six playing together before the finals, to get the chemistry going.

True, all depends on whether they want to give Johno limited minutes in the WAFL or straight back in to the AFL. Tough call for the match committee.

Going to be interesting at the selection table over the next few weeks. All going well, should have McPharlin, Johnson, Dawson, SCOS & Pearce all available as tall backs from next week.

Think it will depend on the result of the derby. When we win, we need to win max 1 more game to secure top spot. Would hold him back against NM and bring him back for the Dees. Win the Dees and Peelmantle head to AO to face Port.

It should be policy not to play old farts with suspect calves at Etihad. Ross needs to take a leaf out of Clarkson's book of resting senior players from onerous travel, like he did with Lake.

I'd play him this week and skip the interstate travel for him so again RD22 and then 1st final! Cheery ripe!

Dawson can be straight swap next week for North game...I'd give Ibbo a rest the game against Melb (bring macca in for him that week)...

Rtb will never put the top 2 position at risk he is going to play his best team available right up and until the top of the table is secure , Then and only then will he bring in players and rest those that need it .
I expect him to only replace injured players and players out of form from here on in .
RTB is all about structures and game plan. The game plan is back now as demonstrated in the St Kilda game . He will not risk Mcpharlin between now and the finals . Elvis will be given a check sheet that will have to have all the boxes ticked twice before he can play .
With the return of Fyfe and Johnson all we are missing is Dawson and Ballas .
The return of Dawson is the icing on the cake when the finals begin IMHO .
The finals team will have fast ball movement strength down back and help for Pavlich .
RTB has sorted out who will be in the ruck in Sandi and Griffin .He will use Suban and Clancee as the battering rams to help Barlow , Mundy , Neale and D Pearce win the clearances with Fyfe changing from CHF into the midfield when he needs to.De boer will need to be at his best to stay in the team .Mzungu will be in the best 22 if he continues to improve .RTB's ace in the hole is Crowley .I've watched him train and he is in ripping shape
Can he play in any of the home and away games .If so I would have him in to get his touch and match fitness .
We have so many options in so many positions good luck picking out best 22 in 4 weeks time .

Crowley can't play until the Prelim. I doubt he will play unless Lyon thinks he HAS to put the clamps on someone in the prelim or GF which we've done alright without this year.
I'm worried with Ballas, it is set up for him to get back and ready but with no game time and Lyon will bring him in, could be boom or bust there.
I believe there is only room for one of Suban/MDB/Mzungu.

Thanks for that on Crowley .
Crowley as I stated COULD BE RTB's ace in the hole if he needs to play it ,Mzungu is just such a weapon and the more games he plays the better he will be .
Suban won't be dropped because he is doing everything RTB asks of him .
MDB still has a ? hanging over his head when it comes to finals . Under extreme Finals pressure he has gone missing in the past so we need him to show this week that he can be relied upon to perform . If he does perform in the Derby then I think he will not loose his spot in the team .If he doesn't then Bradley Grey will get a game to show what he can offer . My belief is that if Grey gets a go he will shine like steel . He is such a competitive beast and has no fear . In Peel games he has had some serious hits and just gets straight up and back into the contest.
