He does look pretty cooked. Almost certainly his last year.

Lets just hope he can get fit and firing for one last hurrah in the finals.

Macca has his fair share of injuries in the past 2 and a half years. Im glad he at least got an AA selection and played in a grand final.

I have stated this before and I will say it Again. If MacPharlin retires this season, then Johnson and Dawson will be the veterans that need to hang around for at least 2 seasons. Tanner Smith, Alex Pearce and possibly Tom Vandeleur should spend the next season and Season after rotating that 3rd Tall defensive spot. If Alex Pearce and Smith both get 20 games each under belt in 2015 and 2016, I am happy with that.

It might mean by 2017 Pearce and Smith will take the key defensive posts but at least both will have 3 seasons and a few games under the belt. Yes I am planning a ahead. You dont want your teams backline to be full of 18 and 19 year olds with no games under the belt.

We re-signed a few guys in quick succession a couple of weeks ago. Was this all to do with freed up salary cap from a decision that McPharlin was finished?

I would love to be prove wrong but it looks like he is really struggling with injury and fitness.

Match report says Nil injuries for Fremantle. McPharlin wasn't been iced or anything so I reckon it was pre planned to sit him out the final qtr.

Given the state of the game it would have made sense to sit him out in the last quarter. Fingers crossed they were just managing him

Hard to see how any of our players got injuires after yesterday's performance. Most likely they all pulled a heart muscle

On Game Day they're listing it as an injury in the little scrolling bar thing. I wouldn't be surprised if he was just rested though. Having him on of off the field made no difference yesterday. I was saying start of the year I thought he was going to retire this year, and I'm going to be devastated when he pops out the news, but he's clearly struggling to get his body up for game days.

Yep , great way to get some more work into the others before the bye as well. I am not surprised about today's result. They have been putting extra work into them when they can and I reckon they were already looking at the last block of fixtures and have loaded them up before the bye to be as good as we can for them.

Macpharlap is too important to risk in a dead quarter.

Four weeks off with a knee. Back for Darwin. One week off with a calf. Back for Melbourne.

Not a good pattern there. Hindsight yeah, but 5 weeks with the knee may have prevented all the subsequent mess. We can't run our champs into the ground - give them the break they need.

with the game gone, I do not think they are going to risk him considering that he just came back from injury. I always thought he came back too early.

let's give him some continuity before writing him off guys

I have felt that the last few times he has come back from an injury, he takes a while (ie. Several games) to get back to a reasonable level. Wouldn't write him off, but it reinforced what Ross said about not wanting to risk him not playing at the moment.

I think in hindsight it would have been better to bring him back for the Caaaarlton game and get the extra work into him on the training track- get him right for last 5 games. yesterday was a perfect opportunity to play Tabbener/Pearce on Revolt as both have great endurance and would have been a great learning experience

Looked to be struggling for pace.

Maybe bring in Silvagni and play macca forward alongside Pav.

I called Elvis retiring this year a couple of years ago - but though the writing is on the wall, I'm not sure he's done just yet.

I just think he came into a team that was in no position to carry a player like him into form. You can't run out there with Mora who can barely play out a 1/4 let alone a game, Griff who hasn't played in 1.5 years and some of your most influential and elite players (Sandi, Hill, Balla and Walters) out of a team and then expect to play yet another player, even an elite player, into form.

In better circumstances we would be saying "Elvis didn't look great, but he'll be better for the run" because the rest of the team could cover - but we had too many holes yesterday and he was found out.
