I don't know what is 'wrong' with McPhee, but he does not, and has not seemed to be playing his best football for some while. He is either shot of confidence, or was never as good was we all thought he was. When he gets the ball he does not want to run forward and break the lines like he used to in his All Australian year. He does not want to take a risk when he kicks, and seems to be happier to go backwards than forward at the risk of losing possession. He seems to go ball chasing to much and gets burnt by his man going the other way. I don’t think a stint in Bendigo would help at all, if anything would further lower his confidence. I think now that with NLM back in the team, this could free McPhee up and allow him to play forward. He is a great mark, and pretty decent set shot. I would love him to play the 3rd man up. I would tell him to hover around the 50 arc, drop back towards the square when we have the ball and get on the end of it and make the opposition defence honest. What do you guys think?

I’m one of Angus' biggest admirers but I cant seem to think why he has taken a step back this year. after a solid preseason i was looking forward to him having more of a stint in the midfield. he looks lost at the moment. he was fantastic against the Dog's, but his game this weekend was very ordinary. I suggest he get on the phone to Gary Ablett and ask him what he did over the preseason to make the transition from forward to midfielder seem so almost seamless. I think Gus has a great future ahead of him, but is more of a forward or midfielder. the sooner we give him a set role and let him learn that position the better it will be for him in the long run.

McPhee must be the new fans scapegoat since Bolton and Bradley are now at Bendigo. I can't work out the angst for him on this Board. Has been one of our better players all year and this will be reflected in best and fairest voting.

As for Monfries. To be perfectly honest I don't think he is that good. Doesn't really have any tricks that makes him stand out, is not exceptionally quick and is undersized. I would be getting him to watch Daniel Kerr videos over the summer as they are similar in height (certainly not strength though).

I'm not saying that he is the be all and end all of why we have lost games this year. But you must admit that he is not the player he once was. He seems to fumble more than he did before. Yes he is still a handy player, but he can be so much more. Thats why i think a stint up forward could freshen him up.

McPhee to me seems to be lacking confidence. He plays his best football when he is conifident and certain about his decisions, using the first option. Lately he has been hesitent in his decision making, hes not running the way he used to either.

Someone just needs to tell him to use his first option, and trust his judgement...hes playing negative football at the minute

everyone i think is being way too harsh of mcphee.... he has been pretty good this year even on the weekend where he anihilated thomas when he was on him you guys said it was an absolutely shit performance.. he has been a good player this year, a solid player... not an AA at the momment like most predicted but still solid. give him a break

as for gus yes he has had a poor season, been beaten most games and this is a season where we have really needed a good crumbing forward to kick some extra goals.. needs to work really hard this pre season and get back to the form that made most name is as captain material last year..

daytripper, he's been inconsistent and for the most part medicore for the season. Last year he was cod ordinary aswell.

When the teams flying he's playing well, when we're struggling rarely does he step up. A front runner.

Soon as he gets the ball all he does is stop, prop, stop prop and not kick anynear near to our advantage. Ball usually ends up out of bounce or putting his team mate under pressure.

Angus has been very disappointing this year. I though he would break into the midfield this year, instead has struggled playing out of forward pocket.

Not sure if he has the engine spend long periods of time in the midfield. But my greatest concern with Gus is that he lacks penetration on his kicks.
Hopefully over time this will improve.

McPhee has been ok. I get nervous when he has the ball in play and needs to make a football decision. Looks hesitant at times and a little unsure of himself.
Been up and down.
