He was ok - he still has the unfortunate knack of making regular silly f**k ups in between his good parts.

I spend half the game tearing my hair out cursing him and the other half acknowledging his good plays.

The part where he decided to shepherd the ball out of bounds with his foot was vintage McPhee.

silly **** ups are vintage McPhee. He's been doing it all his career, even in his AA year.

I thought he had a fantastic influence around the packs today. His kicking on goal looks pretty solid as well.

If he only he could eliminate the dumbass stuff.. the out on the full of his boot and the blind handpass to the opposition.

Yep got it in 1.....no matter how he plays, he is still 1 million times better than Thornton!!!!!!!!

He would have to be the biggest hack going around at the moment. His 1st effot is useless and his second effort is non exsistant.
If he plays next week, Im sure he must have photos of Harvey.
Why he was recurited is unknown.

Have to agree that McPhee is terrible at moment .Confidence down ....but having said that he works really hard and is a big mean body when he tackles and hits packs.

Think he will be excellent value when he finds form

He just keeps doing stupid things. Handballing straight to the opposition, comically kicking it out on the full, getting in the way of our players and delivering the ball to team mates that are under the pump.

The reason he keeps getting a game is that he offers flexibility that others don't. He can play forward or back and even on the ball (albeit quite poorly) and he is extremely hard at it. Because of this flexibility he keeps blokes like Dodd and Murphy out of the team.

We need players that can play in numerous positions in order to be able to both cause problems for the opposition and to hopefully plug holes when they arise.

if Mcphee can improve his disposal and his thought process then he may be a real useful contributor this season.

The versitility of players is fantastic this year.
Bradley/Johnson - all over the ground especially spelling sandi in the ruck
Hase - mid to small forward.
Sandilands - as a power forward

thought mcphee was pretty good today. he makes 3 or 4 stuff ups per game, but makes up for that in other ways. thats just the way he is. his tackling is sensational, i honestly believe that he scares opposition with the way he goes at the ball and the man, which in our team is priceless and he kicked a couple of goals. did his job well

I still think despite the clangers he does make, his ability to break packs and forces opp players to make mistakes as he charges toward them does allow our more skilled and nimble players to clean up the crumbs and get the ball forward...

I say this week in week out. McPhee is useless. He kicks the odd goal, crashes the packs. But he is got to be the dumbest person ever. He isn't smart enough to shepeard, he always jumps into his teammates. Handpasses it to the opposition, has no awareness and kicks it out on the full. I counted he gave Sydney 2 goals.

Honestly McPhee he just frustrates me soo much.

he does stupid things, but i think your letting them blind the great work he does as well.

I thought McPhee was good for us today despite a few costly errors. The thing is can you take the good with the bad with him. After that horrible hand-pass storming out of defence that cost us a goal, probalby within 10 minutes he takes a critical atheletic mark and goal to steady the ship in the third I think it was when Sydney were coming. It was a critical time, great mark and clutch goal when easier shots had been missed at both ends.

He's definitely not as bad as some make out - but he does have the knack of doing some ugly things no doubt. Get rid of that stuff and he's almost as good as Pav in terms of versatility, physicality, tank etc. It's probably not going to happen, so the question is can we live with it? ... For me, 7-2 record at this stage says we can.

I liked his physicality. He does turn the ball over 2-3 times per game. Its almost inevitable. But he makes up for it by kicking straight when in front of goals and winning contests he has no right to win.

Laid 11 tackles and the majority of opposition players would of got up sore. Fremantle are tackling with ferocity and McPhee is definitely one of the players leading the way. I think Crowley, McPhee and Morabito tackle with intent and are wearing players down as the game goes on. They aren't the only 3 but are probably our best tacklers.

Just doing enough to retain his spot IMO.

Kicked two pretty important goals I thought, his mark and goal late in the second was pretty good considering the conditions.

He just looks really average below his knees, there's nothing there, he cant bend.

Still making some really dumb decisons.

Barely in the best 22.

So whats the verdict, :thumbsu: or ????

I would have to say Thumbs up until we get our injured Broughton, Elvis and the silly MJ. The fact of the matter is that we need a mature and strong body in there for physicality and to impose on opposition teams. The thing is that I would be keeping him forward far more than ever going back.

The interesting thing is that keplar playing so well will place additional pressure on McPhee. Best 22 players? I doubt it. The thing is that teams barely ever get their best 22 out on the park. This is exactly what he was brought to the club for.

And thus, he is doing his job. The excellent thing was that we got to save all of our draft picks for excellent players like Fyfe and Roberton. Well done Freo. Keep plugging away McPhee, you are slowly getting better. I was there at the Essendon game and you are certainly doing better than that.
