McPhee

Need to have a look at the replay but I'd say he was easily one of our best in the first half. When he got moved on to Cloke he gave away height and strength and got towelled up. Cloke had already given tarrant a drubbing so...McPhee was alright for mine.

Agree ... thought he was far from our worst

To be honest he wasn't the worst out their tonight but he was pretty far from the best. The Dockers will hopefully learn from tonight and move forward big things will happen with this group:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:.

That's the thing, he is never our worst, but he is allways the first name thrown up by the Hyper Emo Lynch Mob.

Some twits will always look for someone to blame. McPhee is their scapegoat of choice.

There is a big hard on for youth, and players who have it get viewed from behind rose coloured lenses. Having talented kids is great, but most of the time that talent doesn't progress to the level of consistant AFL footballer, which is why it is often wise to back in a player who has established that they are able, to more often than not play, at that level.

McPhee did actually start the match on Cloke and played on him for the majority of the first three quarters, with the exception of half the second quarter when Tarrant moved onto him.

It wasn't a good performance on Cloke by McPhee, but he should never have been put in such a position. He isn't a key defender and he hasn't played there all season. Was an odd and very poor decision by the coaches in my opinion, and ultimately I think McPhee did the best he could with the role he was wrongly given.

Pretty much. Not putting Tarrant on Cloke was odd. McPhee isn't a defender's arseh*le.

He played on Cloke in the first qtr... Cloke was very good in the first qtr..... but hey if you think McPhee was good then thats your opinion.

Go back and count how many times loses his feet.

With so manyquality (and now proven they can play) Rookies why dont they just tell McPhee to hang them up and go on the long term in jury list so you can get another one of your quality rookies on the main list.

This isa genuine question, as i am not really sure, but do you happen to know in what position he got his AA jumper?

He got it the year he spent playing as a loose man in defence. The only position he was ever any good at. His inability to read the play, mark, kick or handball makes that difficult these days.

I'll go and have a look for sure, because I noticed he had clean hands and good disposal in the beginning of the game before I started losing my rag and getting upset :)

He was absolutely dreadful. Directly cost Freo 4 consecutive goals in the 3rd quarter when Collingwood skipped away with all momentum. Pissweak in marking/spoiling contests, lost his feet, terrible effort to shepherd where a teammate got tackled.

IMO he went a long way to costing Freo the match.

From the city end I'd say that Sandilands, Barlow, Crowley and Morabito were the only guys who played well tonight but I agree, I'm going to watch the tape before criticising anyone.

If I was on the match committee I'd be putting a cross next to anyone who was poor tonight though. If you struggled tonight and against the Saints that's 2 strikes and you'd want to play well over the next month with Grover, Suban, Walters, Schammer and Bradley banging at the door.

Was nothing but a disgrace. And it had nothing to do with playing on somebody he shouldn't have been ... all of his mistakes were just awful efforts like falling over, not shepherding, spoiling teammates etc. I am fuming. McPharlin getting injured completely f()*$ed us in the a$$.

As for that Fyfe mix up ... I would contend McPhee should not have been in the area, leading his man into the area ... and even if he did he should have seen Fyfe coming with the best path to the ball, and protected the drop zone. It was a perfect lead and perfect pass, if McPhee wasn't there.

He might be big, but I've said it before ... he doesn't use his strength because he lacks the agility and flexibility. There was one passage in the third where he should have just cleaned up Shaw, put him on a stretcher. His attack on that contest was piss weak. I don't give a sh*(^*% if he would have been suspended, he should have made a statement and taken a few weeks for the team.

I thought he was awful. He wasn't on his own but I would have him as our worst tonight. Not because he doesn't try but simply because he seems to cause such dreadful errors at critical times that lead directly to the other team scoring. He does it over and over.
I don't hate the guy but he's a liability when he's off.

This.

His efforts in the third were disgusting.

Lost his feet in the marking contest against Mcphee, a lack of sheppard in the next forward 50 entry from Collingwood, after he had disposed of the ball lead directly to another goal.

He then dragged his man into Fyfe's space resulting in the pair colliding, a a spillage and a resultant turnover leading to another Collingwood inside 50 and goal.

Part of the blame also needs to lie at Harvey's feet for leaving him on Cloke for so long.

Agree with this post entirely.

If you guys think that was the worst performance you have seen - you obviously watch a lot of different games than I do.

Certainly was not great and after that game we need to sort out a few things.

Grover would of been handy tonight, but if McPharlin is out we need to look at balance.

Having said that if I was ringing the changes I don't think Ibbo or McPhee would be in my side next week. Grover and Suban for me, I'd be monitoring Fyfe too for signs of fatigue.

I would go as far to say that if Grover or another tall defender plays instead of McPhee, Freo would have been in the contest up to their eyeballs. The more I think about it, the more I see it as one of the worst individual performances I have seen in years.

I try not to be harsh but his game tonight was horrible. Reallllly needs to work on holding onto a mark and improving his skills and handling below knee level. Butchered the ball way to much tonight and probably did cost us 2-3 goals.

What a load of crap.

We had more passengers than McPhee tonight, and Grover in and McPhee out is hardly worth 8 goals.

Seriously the hysteria on McPhee is bordering on the ridiculous.

So is McPhee playing like a consistent AFL quality footballer at the moment? Because it sure as hell doesn't look like it to me.

I've got no problem with the theory of a guy being played as a big bodied physical presence and not being expected to star. Solly was one of my favourite players because of his selfless use of his body as a battering ram But Solly was tidy and composed in contests - he didn't have silky skills but he used what he had to advantage the team.

McPhee on the other hand has an unfortunate knack of managing to completely f**k up a lot of the contests he's involved in and does more harm than good to the team at crucial times imo.

Bradley > McPhee and it all comes down to Heart! Bradley busted his butt last week, and McPhee serves up weak performance after weak performance. We can ill afford to carry this guy!
