Mcphee started forward, didn't work ! Went back, didn't work. In fact was downright frightening ! The best game I saw him play was his run with role on Judd, so if there is not an obvious match up for him in the midfield he should be struggling to hold his spot imo.

McPhee uses his strength to get in front for a marking contest and gets pinged for a push

Happned last week and this weeks game as well - all he's been doing is bumping his opponent lightly out the way and its deemed a push/illegal contact

He tries his guts out and that counts for a lot

Should have glued him to Priddis yesterday.

Priddis doesn't need to be tagged, he needs to be given a head-to-head challenge by a player capable of hurting him the other way. I haven't double checked the figures but at least 14,783 people on this board said as much in the week leading up to the game.

It would've been a perfect challenge for a guy like Palmer.

Since McPhee hasn't been playing in the midfield as a bigger body/tagger role we haven't been too flash in that area.

McPhee to the midfield, Pavlich into the forward line.

McPhee does not lack for intensity unlike many ATM and is often as said above getting pinged harshly for his better strength in marking contests. He needs to be kept out of defence and mostly play midfield/leading up link man with his strong marking.

Funnily enough he improved a lot when he went into the backline in this game but generally I would agree with you.

He played some excellent football in the second half of last year in the midfield and I can't imagine why he hasn't had a run this year. Perhaps he could try the Pavlich role and instead of tagging he could use his body to be our in and under player at the centre bounces.

he's got the ability to win the ball with his strength same as Pavlich so why not?

Move Pav to CHF and McPhee to the centre as a first posession getter and tagger - rotate McPhee and Pav as well to cause headaches for the oppostion

May as well try it against Port - if it works use it against the saints

I agree with this . If we are getting caned in middle then move Pav in there. We are not getting best value from Pav or mcphee at momment.
My only concern would be that Pav may get starved of opportunities in forward line. We are getting nothing from midfield at the moment

Looks like the only move now is McPhee to the injury list so those calling for him to be out of team have their wish but with another big body out of the contests we will get smashed even more.

A lot of shuffling needs to be done now, even Schammer as a hardened body needs to be considered...

Schammster will prove you all wrong :D
[hey, nothing wrong with a bit of a optimism] :D

Sorry but I had to Highlight that 1st line...

I guess you didnt watch the Game where Freo faced the Crows at AAMI. If not Im going to tell you anyway. I was actually at the game at a forward flank...

In the 1st quarter. Due to our quick midfield disposal McPhee got at least 6 marks inside 50 and damn right I had the perfect view of his back taking the odd shot at goal on the 50m paint. We kicked 5 goals to 0 in that 1st quarter and he atleast kicked 2 of those goals and sprayed 2 So yeah it can work.

In the midfield? he can work. Majority of the Midfielders in the freo side are they young guys 22 and under. McPhee is 28-29. Freo dont have many midfielders in the 24-27 year old age range with 100-150 games. Schammer is one of those guys that fits that bracket.

I dont know whats with the Hatred of Schammer. Yes I am A Schammer fan Damn it! I will stand by him... for now I would give him a chance to Play against Port at AAMI this week. Make it his last chance to grab a spot in the 22.

If and this is a Big IF... If he does not play well against Port next week then I will shut up about schammer then Freo can start trading him To GWS or back home to play for the Crows or Power. If I am a betting Man I got a Gut feeling Schammer will do a Duffield, He will play like a bat out of hell and try and save his AFL career.

Schammer as a hardened body needs to be considered...

Can people please stop saying this. Schammer has a hardened body for a hobbit, but compared to the humans he will come up against in the AFL he has the body of an 11 year old girl.

True.

However he's a more 'mature' body compared to our young kids that've been going through the middle.

We could use all the experience we can get atm..

He's still a midget though.

Palmer didn't play AFL on the weekend, he'd be my first choice.

Then I'd be looking at Griffin, Walters and Roberton (fingers crossed) before I even thought about Schammer.
