Look at McPhee's disposals for the 1st half of 2010. No reason that Spurr can't improve with a few AFL seasons under his belt. Plus when he does get those corridor kicks right they are a thing of beauty.

Of course - but he'll need to work to get to that level. Won't be an immediate like-for-like

Never said it would be an immediate like for like. It would probably take 1-2 seasons of AFL intensity for Spurr to improve to get to the high standards of McPhee.

We can only hope that Spurr has what it takes.

McPhee has been one of my favourite players for the last 2 years. I really don't want him replaced just yet.

He's one of the few guys that even when we were down - would always block, smash, shepherd for his team-mates. When Hilly would be picked on, McPhee would throw his weight around. We need an enforcer.

Thats what i love about him. He is the 1st one to come in and give an opposition player something to think about:)

Yeah, **** his family. put them in a closet or something for another 12 months.

But seriously, have you SEEN his jetski business? I don't think anyone that's seen it would question why he'd want to go home. Besides, Pitt can easily replace his role in the backline.

I thought Pitt was replacing Pav

'k all we can do about it if he wants to go home, although for some reason i always thought he was a WA boy.

Pretty sure he was a WA boy, but has been over there so long that he may as well be a Vic. Kinda like Pav, but here instead of Radelaide.

EDIT: Oops. Utterly wrong. Should have checked Wikipedia first. Recruited from Dandenong juniors.

If you're so astute as to realize his improvement and his importance to Freo then surely if you read the posted article you'll also realize that bleating on about how much we should keep him and telling other to STFU about him leaving is going to no nothing except get everyone looking at you sideways. o_O

I dont scour the internets all day long Laird.

You don't need to scout the internet. McPhee has made no secret of the fact that he would like to go back to Victoria. Newspaper articles, TV interviews (nice cubby house Skeletor!). He is needed, I doubt anyone wants him to go, but it appears he has made his mind up. Somebody (I'm looking at you mayne iac) needs to convince him to stay.

Neither do I Poindexter but it seems everyone here except you seem to know about McPhee, and secondly, after supposedly reading the article posted for you you bizarrely replied with
That gave me nothing. Family Shmamily. Keep him for another year for gods sake!
...so you maybe didn't understand it or read it properly, don't care about his reasons for possibly leaving and still think that giving him another year will miraculously make him forget about his reasons for wanting to go.

The old McPhee thang. I have been quite public about my support for McPhee through the years, even when he was at a low. Harvey needs to get some credit for getting him to where he is today. He had the yips at one stage, was flustered, he did good things but certainly made some clangers.

The shame for me was, as a member from year 2, and watching the flow of supporters through the years, some peanuts come along to the footy to bag their own players. McPhee was in a similar boat to what Dawson is in now. The same ship that Macca, Schammer, Tarrant and Croad had to take. Unless they are in the top 5 then they get their name groaned and shouted out in dismay and what not. Then some of them they come good and these so called fans cry foul when they find form and leave. There was one particular bloke that would always yell "Mcphee" in a demoralising way. I began to stand up and eye ball him, and as all cowardly pricks do he would sit down without a grimace - pathetic school bully prick back in his day I am sure. Don't hear a whimper from him these days - his victory at proving someone will fail failed. Sure he is waiting to prove his theory to this day.

Good luck McPhee, thanks for coming back, you have made a big difference to the club. If you stay, fantastic - I would add that I think if you are going to kick on in footy you would be mad to leave now. The thing about my story is, that McPhee would be the last bloke to back down from a contest. He is all heart, and when the confidence is there he is the player you want to have the footy in pressure games.

I am in no way classing the OP as such - just sharing some detail, but most here have known McPhee's value for sometime. It is old news and he is at a point in his career that he can call the shots.

Surely the club must be trying to convince him to stay, he's super important.
Maybe they should offer to assist in his mission to conquer Castle Grayskull so that he may finally learn its ancient secrets :p

The story is that some dullards read an article on McPhee where he discussed his next contract, and that his next decision will be based on whats best for his family as opposed to his football career, and somehow that translates into wanting to return home.

Just ignore them.

So many dullards in this world. Your house must have a million mirrors. That you never look at.

Interpretion is such a bitch of a thing.

Hope for the best but expect the worst. That's all people are doing.

Isn't it great that I don't have any stalkers?

Come back for another flogging AQ?

And yeah, I agree, interpretion is a bitch, but just give me a few minutes to google exactly what interpretion is, thanks.
