Fly has only lost 10 games in his first 42 as coach.

For comparison, Chris Scott had only lost 9 as coach by the same stage of his coaching career ..

… but a key difference is that Scott had inherited a team that had finished 2nd and played in a prelim the previous year, whereas Fly inherited a team that had finished 17th.

Pondering the wonder that is Craig McRae. The man is a genius in his handling of people, including the media and other coaches. Have to assume this is also the case with his players and staff, who are humming.

His reference in the post-match presser, to the ‘theatre’ of football, and the pre-game talk including Bruzzy’s challenge to Port - was exactly the right approach and in the right tone. Embrace it, take Bruzzy for what he is, regard it as banter. And nothing that will affect the outcome of the game.

Compare to Hinkley’s ham fisted attempt to use it against us pre-game. Or the nonsensical and poorly timed ‘we are the danger’ from the glowering and perpetually sulky Chris Scott the week before.

Fly does not make these mistakes. He is exceptionally smart in his handling of this stuff. Again, he’s a genius.
