Dropped into Alexandra oval (which is in incredible nick, looked like a bowling green) last night to have a look at both Ararat sides training. The Eagles appeared to have twice as many on the track as the Rats, about 30 v 15 or thereabouts..

Looked like quite a few new faces at the Eagles, A mid and forward from Ballarat way, and there was another ruckman there, really big bloke 200+cm, towered above Stasse, looked to have really good skills for a big bloke. Don't know his name..

The group moved around really well and looked pretty sharp for this early in the season.

They have lost BJ Burton to Great Western, Elder interstate and Jenkins who was forced to retire with a heart issue (a genuine one). The new blokes on the track looked better than there losses.. Could be more improvement again this season from the Eagles..
How is this new ruckman going dools81? Got a name for him yet? the recruits from central highlands are they domintating? If anything looking at results ararat are going backwards again.

The big ruckman didn't end up playing with the club, not sure if he signed on anywhere else. The club did get another ruckman from Ballarat way.
The 2 former Central Highlands players, Youlden and Thompson have both been injured and have only played one game each-

Youlden, missed past 2 with ankle injury.
Thompson played Rd2 only, where he sustained a serious ankle injury.
Tate, from Great Western has been OS for the first 3 games.
Young gun Tom Taurau has missed 2/3 games with Rebels/Vic Country commitments
S Jackson, who was returning from a knee reco, may have re-injured the same knee.

The club would be looking really good if only they could have managed to keep their midfield from last season, and also had a full list to choose from.

J Elder and L Thomas gone to Moyston.
N Taylor only played this week, may not be playing all year.
R O'Connell only played on the weekend for his brothers 200th.
J Coole has been missing in action.
S North gone to Stawell
Burton obviously gone to Great Western.

Hopefully some luck can come their way on the injury front for the rest of the season..

Can anyone give an update on the Stasse situation at the Eagles? You never know what you are going to get with Stasse.

On the 3 occasions (Maddex, Bell and Stasse) got some decent players to the club and looked like building a very good side, the following year everyone leaves. Some great servants at the Eagles. Would like to see them have some success.

Will Wymess be coach next year?

It must be hard to compete with the culture and money at MW and Taty?

Great the Great Western got gonig again and are competitive, but does that just make one too many clubs in the region?
