Any team recruiting news? Is there anywhere to see club clearances anymore?

I know Ararat are looking good. Have bolstered their midfield with some quality players, added a big forward to the team and have added overall depth with a few crossing back over again from Great Western.
Clearances don’t open until Feb 1 - but there is not the visibility that was there under the old system.

I have heard the same things about Ararat & GW that you have and also that Taty have pulled a couple of ex AFL players. Penshurst will be very close to the same if not better with Henry Bensch back from playing cricket in England.

Woorndoo have lost Damian Pemberton to Lismore/Derri but picked up 4 solid HFNL senior players from Warrnambool and a very good kid from Terang Mortlake that on ability could be in the Rebels system but just doesn’t want to do it. Tyson Hogan has recommitted.

LD has secured Wayne Walsh as match day coach which is a big move.

Hawkesdale Macarthur have picked up Ben Reid as assistant coach from Terang Mortlake and a few others.

WLB havr a launch tomorrow but I’m not sure what’s going on there.

Still silly season for a while yet

Ararat have picked up 5-6 senior players who will definitely make a difference. Couple of ex Warrack Eagles boys Jake Peters & Jack Wilson would be the pick of the bunch.
Losing Naish Mcroberts arguably their best player would no doubt have some kinda effect.

What's the word around the traps? Haven't heard much recruiting news or rumors.
Who are we tipping for flag, B&F, Most goals?

You've got Ararat mid ladder? I heard they recruited well. Never hear much about Lismore Derri but they are always there abouts. Bolac the big sliders?

At this stage of the year everyone has “recruited well” - Ararat played a practice match a few weeks ago and the reports were poor, Lismore Derri played in the Preliminary last year and haceca new coach that goes ok at the caper, WLB have lost 8-10 very good players

A very interesting start to the season. Only 1 team undefeated, and 1 team without a win.

Ladder
1st - Ararat - 3-0 - Wins over Glen/Dunk, Penshurst and Tatyoon.
2nd - Lis/Der - 2-1 - Wins over GW and Pens, loss to W/LB
3rd - Woo/Mort - 2-1 - Wins over the bottom 2, Caramut and SMW, loss to Taty
4th - Glen/Dunk - 2-1 - Wins over Hawks/Mac and WLB, loss to Ararat
5th - Great Western - 2-1 - Wins over bottom 3 sides Moy/Wil and Caramut, loss to Lis/Deri
6th - Hawks/Mac - 1-1-1 - Win over SMW, draw to Taty, loss to Glen/Dunk
7th - Tatyoon - 1-1-1 - Win over Woorndoo, Draw to Hawks/Mac, loss to Ararat
8th - Penshurst - 1-2 - Win over W/LB, losses to Ararat and Lis/Deri
9th - Wick/Lake Bolac - 1-2 - Win over Lis/Deri, losses to Penshurst and Glen/Dunk
10th - Moyston Willaura - 1-2 - Win over SMW, losses to GW and Caramut
11th - Caramut - 1-2 - Win over Moy/Wil, losses to GW and Woorn/Mort.
12th - SMW - 0-3 - Losses to Woorn/Mor, Moys/Wil and Hawks/Mac.

How's the season shaping up now?
Lismore Derri & Ararat Eagles clear top 2, possibly a slight leaning to LD but they meet at Ararat on the spacious Alexandra Oval which should be a ripper.

Penshurst at this point are a bit behind the top 2 but clearly a fair bit better than the rest.

Woorndoo & Glen Dunked barring accidents will finish 4th & 5th, they have softish draws vs Wickliffe Lake Bolac & Hawkesdale MacArthur who have a very hard run of games on the way home.

The bottom 5 have all won at least one game and are very competitive but for whatever reason haven’t clicked. Tatyoon is the surprise.

I cannot stress how impressive the top 2 sides are.

Can they win it Lismore Derrinallum ?

Yeah, Moyston really showed up this time! They’ve been sneaky good lately. The Demons do get a bit fiery when things don’t go their way, classic. Losing to the Magpies definitely hurts their momentum, but finals are a whole different beast. Tatty’s form is definitely looking solid, could be a dark horse this season. Should be a fun finish!

Very impressed with Penshurst will be interesting to see how they go in finals.

At this stage - their bottom 6 aren’t a patch on the top 2 sides, obviously they have an elite player and a very good midfield (Watson/Glare) but the top 2 are there for a reason.

Penshurst took care of Ararat.. bit of a surprise?
Ararat had a lot of key players out and another one took no part after half time. Confidence booster for Penshurst no doubt, but don’t take too much out of it other than Josh Rentsch is playing 2-3 levels below where he should be.

Who were they missing? I think Penshurst were missing 3-4 too.
Taurau J, Birch Burton, one other key tall which I can’t remember. Tom Taurau went off at half time with a hammy. They were close enough at 3/4 time given the conditions but ran out of soldiers but specifically height.
